Tennyson Center for Children is a non-profit that has served children and families in Colorado for 119 years through residential, day treatment, and community-based services. We are looking for a substance use outpatient clinician to join our dynamic team who is passionate about ensuring kids and families get the substance use services they need. This clinician will specialize in substance use and mental health services with children, adolescents and young adults with complex trauma and behavioral needs through a combination of telehealth and at Tennyson's office location. This full-time position will be part of a team serving individuals throughout the Denver-Metro area providing individual therapy, resourcing, and care coordination. This position is unique in that it will play an integral role in assisting in the development of substance use services and programming at Tennyson Center for Children.

Essential Job Functions
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, evidenced-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive therapy and therapeutic interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Community Programs and Chief Program Officer in the development of outpatient substance use programming at Tennyson Center for Children
  • Ability to complete substance use clinical assessments and trauma-informed, individualized treatment plans.
  • Clinical supervision for staff seeking addiction licensure/certification.
  • Willingness to take initiative and aptitude for working in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Possess a positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to implement conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks, and independently manage own schedule.
  • Ability to create and maintain healthy boundaries with colleagues and clients.
  • Provide 25 hours weekly of direct services to clients with a varying number of clients on caseload (35 is average)


Working Conditions
  • Sessions will be performed at Tennyson Center campus location.
  • Possibility of infrequent home or community-based session location for supervision purposes
  • Minimal travel requirements
  • Schedule is Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday with evening hours on weekdays.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a graduate degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred, but not required)
  • Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in the State of Colorado required.
  • Licensed in the State of Colorado (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children/youth required.
  • Prior community-based services preferred.
  • Prior outpatient experience required.
  • Trauma informed approach required.
