TITLE: Substitute Administrator

QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful applicant for this position shall have:
- A valid West Virginia Principal's Certificate PK-Adult.
- Successful administrative experience preferred.
- Knowledge of elementary, middle, and high school curriculum.
- Ability to analyze WESTEST 2 data; WESTEST 2 Online Writing Assessment results; and other test data to improve learning environment for all students.
- Developing effective working relationships among administration, teachers, students, parents, and the community.
- Ability to effectively manage a program of student behavior.
- Knowledge of Effective Schools/Teaching Research as it applies to the management of a school.
- Knowledge/understanding of state initiatives: 21st Century Skills, Teach 21, SPL, Next Generation Standards, Standards Based Instruction, and Professional Learning Communities.
- Knowledge of County Mission and Five-Year Strategic Plan. Write and implement the school's Five-Year Strategic Plan.
- Knowledge/experience preparing a school schedule.
- The ability to demonstrate and use Smart Find Express.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely using correct grammar and spelling.
- Ability to use technology for administrative and instructional purposes.
- Knowledge/experience preparing and utilizing interdisciplinary scheduling.
- Knowledge/experience observing and reviewing with teachers their performance in instruction and classroom management.
- Knowledge/experience assessing the needs of a school, evaluating the effectiveness of school practices, developing school improvement plans, setting goals, establishing procedures to manage day-to-day decisions, and utilizing site-based management.
- Demonstrate a working ability to utilize current technology including but not limited to WVEIS.
- Knowledge/experience observing and reviewing with teachers their performance instruction and classroom management.
- Knowledge/experience assessing the needs of a school, evaluating the effectiveness of school practices, developing school improvement plans, setting goals, establishing procedures to manage day-to-day decisions, and utilizing site-based management.
- Knowledge/experience holding staff meetings, assigning staff responsibilities, analyzing school personnel needs, arranging for staff development.
- Ability to provide effective instructional leadership for school improvement counsels, faculty senates, and curriculum teams.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge and understanding of the needs, laws, and procedure regarding the West Virginia Expected Behavior in Safe and Supportive Schools Policy and the education/discipline of students.
- Knowledge/experience preparing, allocating and managing a school budget, student activities budget, and quasi-public funds.
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a substitute administrator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Maintain effective working relationship with Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Central Office Administrators, and Principal.
- Provide instructional leadership and support within the school building.
- Create and maintain a climate conducive to teaching and learning.
- Implement a system to monitor student progress.
- Establish and implement a school improvement system.
- Establish good public and employee relations.
- Maintain professional work habits.
- Maintain and upgrade professional skills in order to accomplish job goal.
- Evaluate all staff members under his/her supervision.
- Plan and supervise fire drills and emergency preparedness procedures.
- Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforce discipline as necessary, according to due process rights of students.
- Maintain school fiscal and ordering responsibility.
- Arrange for appropriate maintenance of building and facilities.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
