Position Summary

Projeo is seeking a Subsurface Technical Manager (SSTM) to lead our subsurface technical business line. This remote position is responsible for managing technical discipline employees-including geoscientists, reservoir engineers, and data scientists-as well as contractors engaged in subsurface technical work. The SSTM will oversee execution, resource allocation, and project management for Projeo's subsurface projects across basins in the USA. Given Projeo's small-business environment, this role will also contribute to sales, project development, budgeting, operations support, cost tracking, bidding, procurement, vendor management, and external communication. Some travel will be required for site visits, client meetings, internal discussions, and representation at industry conferences and trade shows.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain subsurface strategy and lead development and maintenance of the supporting processes/frameworks to execute the subsurface strategy.
  • Perform management duties for direct reports (if/as required) such as coaching, mentorship, development, goal setting, performance appraisals, corrective actions, compensation and promotion recommendations, etc.
  • Identify subsurface opportunities and maintain resource base (contractor and staff) to support project needs.
  • Identify, source, develop, and maintain the necessary internal support systems (software, processes, metrics, etc.) to facilitate execution of subsurface projects and anticipate future needs based on portfolio strategy.
  • Contribute to and review technical work.
  • Provide project management support as needed to subsurface projects (commercial and government).
  • Coordinate and work with Projeo leadership to drive business growth.
  • Attend, participate in, and contribute to meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Travel as needed to client and/or project field sites, and to conferences for project or business development purposes.

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Leadership/Mentorship - The SSTM practices active listening and provides basic mentoring and assistance to less experienced staff and is aware of the value of sharing knowledge with individuals within their team.

Education and Experience
  • Geoscience or Engineering Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year University or College.
  • Greater than 15-years' experience in a similar supporting technical role.
  • Previous experience with direct reports required.
  • Experience with CO2 storage and energy transition projects is preferred.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting/exceeding targets in a continuously changing environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Requires a valid driver's license.
  • Work authorization for the United States.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Travel will be required (~30%).

Position Grade, Compensation Range, and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $157,000 - $210,000 USD annually, with a grade level of G18-19, and a target performance incentive of 15-16% of annual salary. This salary range is Projeo's good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, Projeo's business or organizational needs and an individual's relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the annual salary, grade levels, and bonus. The range listed is just one component of Projeo's total compensation package for employees.
