Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Construction Superintendent with a strong background in DSA-regulated construction and school projects, primarily within the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The ideal candidate will be well-versed in public works protocols, possess excellent leadership skills, and demonstrate a deep understanding of safety, compliance, and quality assurance on educational construction sites.

This is a key role responsible for managing the day-to-day on-site construction activities, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring that all work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with DSA and LAUSD standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate all field operations on K-12 public school construction and modernization projects.
  • Ensure strict compliance with DSA regulations, LAUSD specifications, and project documentation.
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison between project management, subcontractors, inspectors, and school administrators.
  • Maintain and update construction schedules to align with project milestones and client expectations.
  • Lead and document daily site meetings, safety briefings, and progress updates.
  • Manage jurisdictional inspections, including those conducted by DSA inspectors and third-party consultants.
  • Monitor work quality and enforce adherence to project plans, specs, and safety protocols.
  • Identify and resolve field issues in real-time to avoid project delays.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation including daily reports, RFIs, submittals, and punch lists.
  • Support project closeout procedures, including final inspections, commissioning, and turnover.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Superintendent on DSA and/or LAUSD school construction projects.
  • Proven knowledge of Title 24, DSA guidelines, and California public works standards.
  • Experience with school modernization, new classroom construction, campus utility upgrades, and interim housing installations.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to manage school staff, inspectors, and multiple subcontractors.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, civil, and MEP drawings.
  • Experience using construction management software (e.g., Procore, PlanGrid, or similar platforms).
  • Demonstrated leadership in implementing and maintaining site safety programs.
Education & Certifications
  • High school diploma or GED (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field (preferred)
  • OSHA 30 Certification (required)
  • DSA Inspector Certification or familiarity with DSA documentation (preferred)
  • Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record
