Position:Superintendent of Schools Location:Districtwide Schedule: 12 months, Start Date: July 1, 2025 Reports To: Milford School Committee Salary:Regionally competitive compensation and benefits, multi-year contract I.Position Summary The Superintendent leads the Milford Public Schools, ensuring academic excellence and efficient operations in a diverse, multi-lingual district. The ideal candidate has extensive educational leadership experience and a proven record of fostering a culturally responsive, student-centered environment with sound fiscal oversight. II. Strategic Vision and Data-Driven Decision Making: Proven expertise in developing and implementing long-term, student-centric strategies based on objective data and continuous improvement. Operational and Resource Management: Experience with budget development, financial forecasting, and resource management to ensure operational excellence. Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships with staff, parents, community organizations, and government entities. II.Qualifications/Requirements Educational Background: A Doctorate in Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field is required. Professional Experience: A minimum of 8+ years of leadership experience in K-12 education is required, including: oExperience in a district serving a diverse, multilingual population oExperience as an Assistant Superintendent or Director of Curriculum oExperience as a Principal Licensure: oLicensed or eligible for licensure as a Superintendent of Schools in Massachusetts. Additional Competencies: oDemonstrated expertise in curriculum assessment, school-based technology, and 21st-century teaching methods. oExperience with collective bargaining and contractual negotiations. oSound understanding of relevant Massachusetts General Laws and the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education policies and procedures. oExcellent interpersonal and written communication skills with a proven ability to engage constructively with a broad community. III.Key Duties and Responsibilities A.Educational and Instructional Leadership Vision and Strategy: Develop, communicate, and execute a strategic vision that prioritizes academic excellence, innovation, and equity. Curriculum and Instruction: Oversee the development and implementation of a rigorous, culturally responsive curriculum; promote project-based and experiential learning; and ensure effective assessment practices to guide data-driven improvements. Student Engagement: Maintain regular contact with students and staff, visiting school buildings to observe classroom practices and identify opportunities for instructional growth. B.Administrative Leadership and Operational Management Student-First Operations: Ensure that all operational decisions-from extracurricular activities and food services to transportation and safety-are made with students' best interests in mind. Policy, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement: Oversee and recommend district policies to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations; continuously evaluate district operations and advise the School Committee on improvement opportunities. Financial Stewardship: Direct the annual budget development, financial forecasting, and resource allocation to support strategic initiatives, and monitor fiscal performance in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements. C.School Committee and Community Relations Liaison Role: Serve as the primary liaison between the School Committee, district staff, students, and the broader community. Transparent Communication: Foster open, proactive communication; actively seek and incorporate stakeholder feedback; and ensure that the School Committee remains well-informed on district matters. Partnership Building: Develop collaborative relationships with local government agencies, community organizations, businesses, and neighboring educational institutions to support district goals. D.Personnel and Organizational Effectiveness Staff Leadership and Development: Recruit, develop, and retain a high-caliber administrative team and diverse teaching staff through inclusive hiring practices and robust professional development programs. Workplace Culture: Cultivate a positive, student-centric culture that encourages continuous learning, innovation, and effective collaboration among all staff. E.Financial Management Budget and Resource Allocation: Lead the district's financial planning and budgeting processes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. Funding and Grants: Oversee the strategy to obtain additional funding sources and grants to supplement the district's budget. Financial Oversight: Regularly report on fiscal status to the School Committee, ensuring transparent and accountable resource management. V.
