Base Pay Range: $99,174 to $161,720, based on experience

ABOUT THE JOB

The Supervisor, Business Intelligence will assume responsibility to provide support and administrative oversight of an analytics team responsible for developing, preparing, interpreting, and monitoring moderate-to-complex health care analyses, data projections, data models, and reports used by system management in decision-making. Serves as a resource to provide analytics guidance and support. Will work in collaboration with stakeholders and subject matter experts to deploy actionable insights that produce value-driven outcomes for patients. Responsibilities include providing direct supervision over multiple analysts and performing direct roles in standardizing and cleaning data, building prediction models, modeling outcomes, and developing metrics for complex data analysis projects that can be multi-disciplinary or interdepartmental. Addresses data requirements for analytic reporting and operating areas. Develops the team members and personal skills of proficiency with a variety of tools (ex: SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, etc.) to extract data, write queries, develop programming logic, run reports, manipulate data, and analyze datasets to meet the needs of the organization.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead and provide direct supervision over a business intelligence/analytics team in the preparation of reports to enable leadership to make informed decisions on the trends and performance of service lines and evaluate new opportunities.

Lead a team in the development of various queries, datasets, and metrics for deployment in cross-functional reporting.

Work with manager and departmental leadership to allocate resources aligned with departmental and organizational goals executed following established analytics operational standards.

Work closely with executives, leadership, managers, service line leaders, and others to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting and success of assigned projects.

Develop and incorporate service line clinical, quality, and operational reports, scorecards, and databases utilized by leadership.

Lead analytic-driven improvement projects and prioritize analytics requests.

Participate in analytic leadership and strategy discussions including technology strategy development, implementation, and approval of analytics best practices.

Perform basic to advanced analyses, and ETL processes with Excel, SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages.

Utilize various data analysis and business intelligence tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, and Excel to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative or qualitative analyses addressing impactful business issues or questions via ad hoc and routine reporting.

Utilize methods from outside of healthcare; utilize data broadly using traditional and non-traditional databases.

Forecast the impact of system changes to establish targets and mitigate business risk as well as a strong understanding of external pressures.

Model and frame scenarios that are meaningful and impact critical processes and/or decisions.

Communicate and work with operational subject matter experts to analyze information or data on current and future trends of best practices.

Improve organizational performance through the application of innovative thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, products, and services.

Employ sound judgment in determining how deliverables will be deployed to produce a return on investment.

Remain current with database and analytics technologies methods and standards, actively participate in professional forums, and ensure compliance with all applicable standards. Updates job knowledge by studying state-of-the-art/industry-relevant tools, techniques, and equipment.

Participate in educational opportunities, read professional publications, maintain personal networks, and participate in professional organizations.

Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.

Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes.

May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in health administration, business administration, computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field.

Four (4) years of experience in decision support, analysis, or quality reporting and/or quality and process improvement via cross-functional teams.

One (1) year of healthcare experience.

One (1) year of experience in SQL, data reporting, and visualization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master's degree in health administration, business administration, computer science, statistics, data science, or a related field.

One (1) year of supervisory experience.

Business intelligence experience (i.e. Tableau, Business Objects, Cognos, Cerner Health Intent, Python, and/or R).

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
