The Field Reliability team mission is to determine root cause and contributing factors to improve the experience of Tesla's products by reducing field issues, in collaboration with large cross-functional engineering teams. Tesla is looking for highly motivated Engineering Supervisors to manage the shift of Engineering Technicians performing Failure Analysis activities of li-ion cells and the systems and sub-components they are used in, including teardown and inspection development, tool creation, and coordination with the Failure Analysis Engineer and the Engineering Technicians under the guidance of the Lab Manager.
We are seeking a multi-faceted individual who will be responsible for leading a team of Engineering Technicians responsible for performing root cause analysis, implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues effecting our systems that rely on li-ion battery cells.
The person for this role must exhibit the knowledge, leadership, and drive needed to not only challenge the status quo, but also define and execute the optimal path forward. To be effective, they must have strong leadership and organizational qualities, as well as an affinity for root cause analysis. The work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a shift team of failure analysis Engineering Technicians by communicating test prioritization and delegating work across the shift team, including interacting with test requesters to identify needs and determine how to meet them
  • Provide hands on support alongside Engineering Technicians to complete failure analysis
  • Take on continuous improvement projects within the lab to improve workflow efficiency and culture
  • Coordinate and cross train other engineers and technicians
  • Enforce compliance to all EHS policies and 5S/workplace hygiene standards across their shift
  • Communicate challenges and successes to the Lab Manager and support the Failure Analysis Engineer with test method development and creation of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Train and onboard new Engineers and Engineering Technicians to perform various operations


Requirements
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional documentation, organization, and communication skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Comfortable working with chemicals and hazardous materials in a laboratory environment
  • Be both capable and willing to perform all the various manual tasks involved with lab work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

      $96,000 - $144,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

      Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
