Full-time, 35 hours/ week, Hybrid

The Supervisor, Material Planning & Procurement at Alectra is responsible for leading and supporting the planning and procurement of inventory materials essential for our construction needs. This role focuses on optimizing and scheduling materials to ensure excellent customer service, material availability, and reliability. Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure the timely supply and fulfillment of materials to meet schedules, key stocking strategies, and department initiatives.

What you'll do

Material Planning
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a Material Planning & Scheduling Strategy, incorporating forecasts to ensure material availability.
  • Conduct research and investigate availability for key equipment.
  • Prepare, analyze, and present reports, findings, and proposals.


Procurement and Inventory Management
  • Manage inventory to ensure optimal levels in a cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor supplier trends to ensure timely fulfillment of materials and recommend improvements to enhance efficiencies.
  • Ensure ongoing awareness and communication of the commodities market.

Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management
  • Participate in internal and external meetings to identify potential challenges in material fulfillment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders and preferred suppliers to ensure key equipment is appropriately planned.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders and suppliers to resolve issues and support high material fulfillment levels.

Process Improvement and Innovation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline or automate processes to continuously improve service levels.
  • Manage processes related to Inter-company Branch Transfers, Cycle Counts, Expired Materials, Safety Stock, Inventory Adjustments, and Product Reclassifications.
  • Lead investigations and corrective action plans for material shortages.

Team Leadership and Development
  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily activities of direct reports in support of departmental initiatives.
  • Evaluate the performance of direct reports and provide training and development opportunities.
  • Administer Collective Agreement terms and represent management in grievance resolution.

Operational Excellence and Compliance
  • Maintain budget responsibility and signing authority according to established policy.
  • Provide input into department goals and objectives.
  • Lead or participate in departmental projects and key initiatives to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Health & Safety policies, procedures, and standards

Who you are

Education & Technical Knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • CSCMP designation or advanced enrollment is an asset.
  • APICS or SCMA enrollment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement concepts and financial analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory management and MS Office applications.

Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience in an inventory and procurement management role.
  • Experience in performing extensive analysis and generating detailed reports.
  • Experience in Material Planning and Expediting is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized utility environment is an asset.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to provide practical and innovative solutions.
  • Effective leadership, change management, supervisory, and delegation skills, with attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical information concisely.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects within established timelines.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid class "G" driver's license.
