POSITION: Supervisor of Special Education for School Psychology (Systemwide) REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE: Supervisor of Special Education for School Psychology provides administrative leadership and support to School Psychologists, to ensure that professional services of high quality are maintained and that departmental responsibilities are consistently fulfilled, under direction of the Director of Special Education. The Supervisor is responsible for the assignment and evaluation of School Psychologists. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Responsible for providing support, supervision, assistance and consultation to School Psychologists in the performance of their professional responsibilities in their assigned schools. 2. Responsible for conducting evaluations of the School Psychologist staff as contractually required by the Worcester Public Schools. 3. Responsible for School Psychologist staff orientation, supervision and ongoing training in the provision of school psychology services. 4. Increasing school based capacity for universal academic and Social Emotional Learning/competencies, and targeted support for identified students. 5. Clinical support, crisis intervention and stabilization as needed. 6. Oversee the timely completion of assessments as required for the Team Evaluation Process. 7. Supporting district-wide initiatives including Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and implementation of innovative strategies to accommodate diverse learners in the least restrictive learning settings. 8. Responsible for supporting School Psychologist staff in the adoption of practices that enable the Worcester Public Schools to fulfill all requirements of local, state and federal mandates including the IDEA, 504/ADA as well as requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Protection of Pupil Rights Act (PPRA). 9. Responsible for ensuring that appropriate documentation of professional activities is maintained by staff. 10. Responsible for compiling, summarizing, maintaining and submitting data or other records of services provided to students and their families. 11. Responsible for planning and implementing Staff Development programs for the Special Education Department as well as for all faculty and staff in the employment of the Worcester Public Schools. 12. Responsible for developing staff assignments for the School Psychologist staff in cooperation with the Director of Special Education. 13. Responsible for assisting the Director of Special Education and the Human Resource Manager in the recruitment and selection of personnel and interns. 14. Maintain, foster, and identify community resources to support ongoing partnerships between WPS and community stakeholders. 15. During summer work days, assist the Director of Special Education in providing support to WPS programs during summer school sessions. 16. Responsible for other job-related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Massachusetts DESE licensure as Supervisor/Director of Special Education or Pupil Personnel Service. 2. SEI endorsement from DESE 3. 5 years of successful experience as a School Psychologist. 4. Experience working as a supervisor of licensed psychologists. 5. Demonstrated ability to engage school personnel, family members and community partners in collaborative efforts to address the multiple needs of students that may interfere with educational success. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Knowledge and experience in assessment. 2. Demonstrated leadership within the field of human service. 3. Ability to speak Spanish, Vietnamese, Albanian, Portuguese or an African language. WORK YEAR: 180 pupil days, plus 15 additional days to be coordinated with the immediate supervisor.
