The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the first level supervisor of the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, Transportation Section (AFRL/RIOLT), managing the workload and providing advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of transportation issues.

Roles and responsibilities of this position include:
  • Plan, direct, organize, and exercise control over employees assigned to AFRL/RIOLT.
  • Procure and manage common transportation services to move AFRL/RI personnel, freight, and/or other commodities, with responsibility for accountability of operating costs.
  • Participate in conducting surveys and studies of the traffic management functions, operating methods, procedures, and performance; to include metrics and analysis, ensuring appropriate actions are taken in a timely manner and reviewed at critical points.
  • Negotiate with carriers and/or regulatory bodies regarding questions of rates, transit privileges and associated charges, special services and associated charges, and classification of commodities.
  • Manage vehicle operations to include oversight and customer support functions related to government vehicle use.
  • Direct the activities of the Distribution, Passenger, and Vehicle Operations within the Logistics Readiness Squadron, ensuring customer support complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and direction on a wide range of transportation issues.
  • Represents the Information Directorate for mission support matters relating to transportation at a variety of base, local, state, AFRL, AFMC, USAF and DOD levels.
  • Manage the development of informal training programs to instruct personnel in all facets of transportation management.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship Required
  • Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
  • Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the DO-1 level or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid driver's license to operate government motor vehicles
  • This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing.
  • Must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the DO-1 level, or equivalent in other pay systems

  • Knowledge of TMO responsibilities and processes
  • Knowledge of CMOS processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES)
