Job Title: Surgical Technologist

Description:
Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to maintain a sterile environment.
Demonstrates competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and appropriate knowledge base.
Provides age-appropriate care to obstetrical patients according to established policies and procedures.
Assists in the organization and coordination of supplies and equipment for departmental efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Maintains a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
Demonstrates awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established by the hospital and unit policies.
Charges for equipment and supplies as needed.
Participates in room turnover and set-up.
Maintains and cleans equipment, identifying items needing repair per policy.
Effectively performs sterilization and disinfection, documenting loads per policy.
Applies principles of asepsis to maintain sterility during surgical set-up and procedures.
Assists with obtaining supplies, equipment, and positioning devices, as well as in the positioning of patients for procedures.
Performs scrubbing duties, including teaching classes for medical students, residents, and other students.
Efficiently turns over and sets up operating rooms for the next patient.
Required Skills & Experience:
1+ years of surgical tech experience.
Independently scrubs basic surgical procedures.
Demonstrates problem-solving skills related to procedures.
Applies basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology.
Applies basic knowledge of electricity, chemistry, computers, robotics, and lasers.
Demonstrates knowledge and practice of patient care concepts and perioperative teamwork.
Applies principles of sterile technique during surgical procedures.
