Description:
Alberta Health Services, is currently seeking the services of independently licensed physicians to assist with thoracic surgery procedures at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Under the direction of the surgeon, the position's primary duty will be to provide surgical assistance during procedures. The surgical assistant is responsible for maintaining aseptic integrity, is a skillful communicator with all members of the OR team, and can lift and position patients and equipment as required.
The position provides the opportunity to work with a congenial group of thoracic surgeons in a combination of lung, mediastinal and esophageal surgery. Both open and minimally invasive procedures are performed at our site. Trainees, both undergraduate and postgraduate, are often involved in surgical procedures as well.
Preference will be given to applicants who can commit to regular, predictable availability. There will be up to 4-5 days of assisting availability with after hours opportunities if desired as well.
