Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification

- Successful completion of service-specific surgical technologist competencies
- Strong communication skills and customer service relations
- Excellent organizational and priority-setting skills
Job Description:
- Perform technical duties in all operating room specialty service areas, ensuring adherence to accepted standards.
- Provide maintenance, assembly, handling, and sterilization of specialty instrumentation.
- Follow aseptic technique, proactively identifying contamination and implementing corrective actions.
- Perform surgical counts and follow procedures for incorrect counts, reporting discrepancies appropriately.
- Label drugs and solutions; monitor quantities used.
- Assist in preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens.
- Participate in planning and setting up instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes for optimal accessibility during procedures.
- Assist surgeons by understanding patient anatomy and abnormalities affecting surgical procedures.
- Assist in case picking and planning instrument needs.
- Modify scrubbing procedures and communicate changes with the surgical team.
- Respond to surgical emergencies and follow emergency management plans.
- Inventory, receive, and store supplies under the direction of Surgical Services leadership.
- Identify, report, and address defective instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist with restocking operating and procedure rooms.
- Assist registered nurses during the intraoperative phase.
- Operate complex equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
- Serve as a mentor for surgical technician trainees and as a preceptor when necessary.
