Description:

KLS Earthworks & Environmental is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as Survey Manager. As Survey Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing various field survey tasks, ensuring accurate data collection, and contributing to the success of our projects.

You will act as the primary subject matter expert within the organization. You will lead, manage and be accountable for overseeing the survey team, ensuring that high standards for quality and execution are upheld. In this position, you will be instrumental in developing our team and implementing safe, accurate and efficient survey operations that drive quality excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the foremost technical advisor for survey-related inquiries, both internally and externally.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of survey data and associated reports.
  • Stay up to date on industry standards, trends, and technology, advising the team on innovations.
  • Represent KLS at industry events and professional associations.

Quality Assurance:
  • Develop and monitor survey-specific workflows, methods, and procedures.
  • Conduct regular quality audits to ensure adherence to standards.
  • Investigate and report on all non-conformance events, proposing solutions for improvement.
  • Define and track key performance indicators to monitor and enhance department performance.

Project Planning & Staffing:
  • Collaborate with the Project Management team to initiate new projects and ensure successful planning and execution.
  • Forecast resource needs, participate in recruitment efforts and field staff interviews.
  • Attend and contribute to internal project planning meetings, risk assessments, and kick-offs.

Technical Competency:
  • Develop and implement training programs for field staff.
  • Perform competency assessments and annual performance reviews for key team members.
  • Ensure technical knowledge and skills are aligned with industry standards and project requirements.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years in the Geomatics industry, including managerial experience.
  • Proven track record in construction surveying for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes.
  • A history of successfully implementing technology and processes to improve survey practices.

Education:
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics Technology, or equivalent experience (additional experience required if no diploma).
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) an asset;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) an asset.

Technical Proficiency:
  • Advanced skills in Agtek, Pix4D and TopCon.
  • Exceptional communication, decision-making, and leadership abilities.
