Position Summary

The SVP, Application and Database Systems is responsible for leading the strategy, management, and execution of both application development and database management functions. This role requires a strong technical background, exceptional leadership, and team management skills. The SVP will oversee teams of application developers, Salesforce developers, database and data engineers ensuring their alignment with organizational goals and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. A service-oriented mindset, high sense of ownership, and excellent communication and problem-solving abilities are essential to the success of this role. The SVP will also play a key role in driving strategic initiatives, identifying opportunities for business value through technology integration, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a strategic vision for enterprise application development and database architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Data Engineering: Lead data engineering initiatives to design and optimize data pipelines, integrations, and workflows to support business needs.
  • Data Governance: Define, implement, and enforce data governance frameworks, including policies, procedures, and standards for data management, security, and compliance.
  • Team Management: Manage and mentor high-performing teams of application developers, database developers, administrators, and data engineers, fostering professional growth and team cohesion.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and track performance metrics and KPIs for the teams, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex application and database-related challenges.
  • Business Partnership: Partner with business and IT leadership to develop and execute strategies for leveraging technology as a key organizational asset.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and analyze data and application requirements for architectural designs.
  • Database Management: Oversee database management activities, including performance tuning, maintenance, sizing, capacity analysis, and utilization.
  • Application Development: Manage end-to-end application scoping, sizing, estimating, planning, development, implementation, and post-implementation maintenance and support.
  • Process Improvement: Proactively identify and implement process improvements, technology advancements, and best practices in application development and database engineering.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal data governance policies.
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external service vendors to ensure superior service delivery. Define and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and negotiate support commitments for existing systems.

Required Experience & Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in enterprise-level application development, database development, architecture, and administration, with a focus on transformative data processes and cloud-based technologies.
  • Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring teams of technology professionals, with a track record of fostering high performance and accountability.
  • Strong experience in data engineering, including designing and optimizing data pipelines and managing large-scale data environments.
  • Expertise in data governance frameworks, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Salesforce, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, and/or Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Experience with CICD integrated with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred experience in the Financial Services or Mortgage industry.

A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this role is $215,000 - $250,000 annually. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certification, and other factors.
