Job Summary:
The Senior Vice President (SVP) and Chief Communications Officer at AmeriHealth Caritas reports to the Executive Vice President, Public Affairs and Risk. This strategic leader excels in fast-paced, mission-driven environments, using communications to strengthen business strategy, enhance performance, and increase employee engagement. The SVP serves as a key advisor to executive leaders and leads the Communications team, managing initiatives such as executive communications, media relations, crisis communications, and internal communications. Key responsibilities include developing a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with the organization's goals, promoting the culture, and safeguarding the corporate brand and reputation. The SVP supervises a team that delivers services such as strategic planning, brand management, crisis communications, reputation management and digital services across multiple channels to various stakeholders.
Essential Functions:
Team Management and Leadership:
The candidate will lead a team of individuals, manage agencies, and influence and advise many others. This person will establish the vision and priorities while overseeing the day-to-day operations of the direct communications team. The individual should be skilled in identifying and developing strong talent, guiding team members to enhance their impact and advance their careers. This leader will also contribute to AmeriHealth Caritas' overall leadership and strategy as a member of the extended leadership team.
Communication Strategy and Messaging:
The successful candidate will design the Company's strategic and proactive communications strategy, along with a messaging platform and plan that align with and support the Company's overall objectives and leadership. This leader will empower AmeriHealth Caritas to anticipate, identify and enhance its reputation through effective communication. In addition, this role will oversee AmeriHealth Caritas positioning strategy at the national level, while customizing the strategy in our local markets to meet their market needs and provide brand governance to ensure alignment within the family of companies.
Media Relations and External Communications:
The leader will have expertise in media relations and will create and implement a proactive reputation management and media relations program. This program will aim to favorably position AmeriHealth Caritas and its leadership in top-tier global and national press, as well as in trade and business publications. This team will manage incoming reactive press inquiries and proactive media outreach, including overseeing all media interviews and external speaking engagements for senior executives.
Internal and Employee Engagement:
This person will work closely with AmeriHealth Caritas' business teams, Human Resources, Marketing, and other departments to connect the Company's strategy to employees through effective communication. The team will develop communication strategies and materials for management, including town halls, newsletters, and employee campaigns. Additionally, the leader will be responsible for broad employee communications, including managing the Company's intranet.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 10 to 15 years of progressively advanced communications experience, including CEO Communications support
