Position Summary
The SVP will report to the COO and is responsible for developing and executing strategies to maximize revenue generation across all event income streams including event registration, sponsorships and exhibitors, advertising, and educational programs, by aligning sales and logistics efforts to achieve the association's event financial goals and growth objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of the industry, strong relationship building skills, and experience in managing diverse revenue streams within a non-profit/trade association environment.
By focusing on the expansions of event segments and business partnerships, the SVP will execute the corporate strategic plan - focusing on the expansion of event segments and business partnerships - and identify and develop additional opportunities. The SVP's responsibilities include the development & leadership of the newly structured department and its' internal staff in an efficient and influential way that fosters comradery, partnership, and ability to hit key targets.
They will ensure performance, strategy, and alignment of the ACP's conference and events department including logistics, programming, business development, and registration. The SVP will help maximize reach and efficiency by adding new, scalable partners in a strategic way, build and foster creative teams that are committed to our culture of innovation, and monitor the revenue pipeline and leads, adjusting as necessary for sustainable growth.

We are a fast-paced, high-energy organization with a very ambitious agenda and a staff that is highly motivated. This position may experience high-level work demands and independent decision-making under tight timelines. Occasional travel outside of the Washington, DC area for meetings or events may be required. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. ACP will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
We reasonably believe that the base salary range for this position is $275,000- 325,000. At ACP, a wide range of factors are considered when making compensation decisions including and not limited to skill set, experience, training, education, knowledge, and other business and organizational needs. Revenue Strategy
- Lead and manage the business development and events teams responsible for event production and promotion, sponsorship and exhibitor acquisition, and advertising and registration sales. Empower VP's and other director reports, and foster collaboration between teams within the department as well as across ACP to ensure aligned messaging, improve lead generation, and maximize revenue.
- Analyze industry trends and demographics to identify new revenue opportunities and potential growth areas, providing competitive strategies and tactics across conferences and events.
- Develop and implement comprehensive revenue strategies across all event streams, including event packages, sponsorship tiers, and advertising options as well as collaborate with other internal departments at ACP (such as membership and finance) to achieve goals.
- Set ambitious yet attainable revenue targets and track progress against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and manage the annual events revenue budget, including forecasts and projections for each income stream; monitor revenue performance against budget and identify areas for improvement; regularly report on revenue trends and key metrics to the executive leadership team.
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with relevant industry players to generate additional revenue through co-branded events, sponsorships, exhibits, advertising or joint marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and ensure the organization remains at the forefront of event planning and execution.
- Develop targeted marketing campaigns to attract new attendees, sponsors and exhibitors and engage existing ones.
Event Logistics & Programming
- Oversee the planning, development, and execution of a diverse portfolio of in person and online conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events. Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand event objectives, target audience, and desired outcomes, ensuring events are strategically aligned and meet organizational goals.
- Lead events team responsible for the event site selection process, conduct site visits of prospective locations, and negotiate favorable financial and contractual terms and incentives with cities/venues.
- Manage event logistics team who oversees set-up, catering, housing block, signage, A/V, medical, sponsorship implementation, special events, staffing, transportation, and vendors for all ACP conferences and events.
- Own the on-site experience for CLEANPOWER and other in person ACP conferences.
- Manage all the Association event logistical contracts including the convention center and hotel packages.
- Oversee the registration process for all the Association events including pricing and option decisions, set-up and implementation of registration-related activities, registration tracking and projections.
- Manage the staff training process in preparation for CLEANPOWER or other necessary events.
- Manage and oversee the conferences budget, tracking expenses and all revenue to ensure maximum including providing regular financial reports including booked revenue, recognized revenue, and pipeline updates for senior management of ACP.
Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, growth-focused team and oversight of outside consulting firms and resources.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages innovation and excellence.
- Provide regular feedback and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Establish and monitor department performance and development goals, strategically structuring the growth of the department.
Education, Experience, Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Advertising, or related field required.
- 15+ years of progressive senior leadership roles responsible for driving and implementing revenue growth in a diverse event portfolio.
- 5+ years of managing cross-functional teams and aligning sales, logistics and programming efforts.
- Proven track record of success in sales and events leadership roles within a trade association or similar non-profit organization.
- Deep understanding of the industry landscape, event needs, and market dynamics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Strategic planning and analytical abilities to identify revenue opportunities and develop effective strategies.
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Proficiency in CRM systems and data analysis tools to track and optimize revenue generation activities.
