Description

The Senior Vice President, Legal, Leasing & Operations provides legal guidance and coordinates with other internal departments of the organization related to all leasing and operations activities to ensure compliance with all legal, ethical or regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Render advice concerning legal issues in connection with ownership and operation of stabilized mixed-use real estate assets with primary responsibility of drafting and overseeing all office and retail leasing
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies related to leasing operations and safeguarding of Company interests
• Develop and implement internal processes, policies, procedures, strategies and initiatives to support the Company's primary business objectives related to leasing and operations
• Lead or oversee complex lease negotiations, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating lease agreements and related documents
• Active in risk management to assess and mitigate legal risks associated with leasing transactions, providing proactive advice and solutions
• Manage or oversee the resolution of leasing disputes and litigation, collaborating with external counsel when necessary and maintaining proper documentation
• Collaborate with Human Resources Department to ensure the implementation of consistent disciplinary action strategies in cases of compliance standard violations
• Advise internal management or business partners on the implementation or operation of compliance programs
• Report violations of compliance or regulatory standards to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate or required
• Provide assistance to internal or external auditors in compliance reviews
• Prepare management reports regarding compliance operations and progress
• Design or implement improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards
• Verify that all regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated
• Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, or best practices.
• Support operations on rezoning and development of mixed-use assets to include the drafting and negotiation of professional service agreements and commercial construction agreements, REAs, easements, ground leases and project specific agreements with third parties and/or the oversight of outside counsel with respect to the same
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• JD Degree
• 5-12+ years of experience in real estate transactional work
• Project finance experience a plus but not necessary
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite, and any other software program identified as standard
• Ability to effectively select and supervise outside counsel
• Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity
