Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Vice President (SVP) of Procurement to lead our Supply Chain and Merchandising teams. Reporting directly to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, the SVP will oversee all activities within the department and play a key role in optimizing our network. This includes leveraging tools like Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to introduce new capabilities, support business development, and contribute to the growth and profitability of the company.

The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with Operations to drive efficiency and execution while partnering with Sales to support growth and profitability. The SVP will also manage sourcing programs that deliver greater value to our customers, enhancing customer loyalty and supporting the continued success of the business.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Lead and manage a procurement team supporting Merchandising and Supply Chain functions, ensuring high performance, accountability, and collaboration.
Oversee all procurement activities, ensuring alignment with business objectives, cost efficiencies, and growth strategies.
Procurement & Inventory Management
Will serve as the lead on developing and interpreting procurement guidelines, policies, and procedures for a variety of procurement functions, including but not limited to balancing product availability, cost control, and category profitability.
Manage purchasing, inventory levels, and supply planning to meet demand while optimizing Days on Hand and Cycle Stock expectations.
Lead SKU rationalization efforts, optimizing the product mix based on market trends and customer behavior.
Sourcing & Cost Optimization
Establish and manage sourcing programs that enhance customer value, optimize costs, and improve procurement efficiency.
Strengthening supplier relationships to ensure reliable sourcing, cost-effectiveness, and product quality.
Drive product commercialization efforts, ensuring seamless collaboration across teams for successful product launches.
Category & Product Growth
Support the expansion of key product categories, including Grocery, Bakery, Dairy, Fruits, Vegetables, and Protein, ensuring proper availability and margin optimization.
Focus on increasing customer basket size and purchase frequency through strategic procurement initiatives.
Technology & Data Management
Partner with the Master Data team to maintain accurate product attributes, clean data, and continuous updates.
Leverage MRP technologies and data analytics to improve procurement efficiency and decision-making.
Financial & Network Optimization
Develop and manage the Procurement budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with financial objectives.
Drive network optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and streamline processes across the business.

Requirements:
Industry Expertise
Extensive experience in food distribution and food service procurement, with a deep understanding of industry challenges and opportunities.
Proven ability to manage diverse product categories, including fresh and shelf-stable items.
Knowledge of freight management and experience optimizing transportation costs and logistics.
Leadership & Business Acumen
Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
Experience managing large teams, driving performance, and fostering accountability.
Financial acumen with a track record of budget management and cost optimization.
Operational & Planning Expertise
Expertise in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) to align demand and supply strategies.
Experience with demand planning and integrated business planning, translating demand signals into procurement strategies.
Strong understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) technologies and how they drive procurement efficiency.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of 15 years of procurement experience in the food industry.
At least 10 years of experience managing teams.
