Job Summary:

The SVP Operations is responsible for the clubs' leadership, strategic direction, operations, and membership growth within an assigned region. This role drives success by demonstrating elite leadership capabilities and managing a region consisting upwards of 25 clubs and their leadership teams with a strategic mindset. Roughly half of Invited Clubs report directly to an SVP, while some clusters of clubs report into a Regional Manager, helping SVP's and clubs both. The SVP Operations is accountable for achieving financial and operational goals across these clubs, while demonstrating exceptional leadership, coaching, influencing and communication skills to effectively engage with the regional team and collaborate with peers on cross-functional projects. This role is a key member of the executive team, promoting collaboration and innovation across the region that results in bottom line growth. This role reports in to the EVP of Operations.

This position has flexibility to be based in Southern California, Northern California, Washington, Arizona, or the DFW metroplex.

Day-to-Day:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive business and financial strategy plans for the region. Regularly monitor performance metrics against these plans to ensure revenue targets are achieved across all operational areas, making data-driven adjustments as necessary to optimize performance.
  • Work collaboratively with functional subject matter experts at the corporate level and their respective regional teams to bring to life strategies that drive the company's strategic objectives.
  • Offer strategic leadership to the Regional Team Members, Regional Managers and General Managers on operational matters across key areas, including Agronomy, Facilities, Fitness & Wellness, Food & Beverage, Golf Operations, Member Experience, and Membership / Private Event Sales.
  • Recruit, select, develop, and continually evaluate a qualified team of Regional Managers and General Managers who in turn are retaining top talent at their clubs, ensuring the relationships between value, service, and member satisfaction.
  • Guide Regional Managers and General Managers in the creation and execution of strategic employee development plans, leveraging performance reviews, cross-training, goal setting, and employee recognition.
  • Implement sales, marketing, and net revenue strategies aligned with financial plans, regularly reviewing and adjusting these strategies to optimize overall performance.
  • Maintain effective expense control systems and forecasting procedures to monitor and manage departmental expenses and revenue-to-payroll ratios.
  • Ensure assigned clubs meet financial obligations, including debt and lease agreements, while adhering to GAAP and company policies.
  • Hold Regional Managers and General Managers accountable to member retention metrics and develop targeted strategies to enhance retention rates. Promote a motivating team environment centered on collaboration, respect, and a focus on member satisfaction.
  • Identify areas of growth opportunity across the region and work with the senior management and functional SME's to collaboratively develop strategies and plans and successfully execute those products to drive business results
  • Lead through example for the region by supporting and enforcing policies while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
  • Inspire and motivate others to achieve expected outcomes, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
  • Promote and follow safe working practices, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Manage time efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet the needs of the clubs and their members.
  • Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
  • Maintain an "open door" policy, providing a safe space for employees to voice concerns and offer input without fear of reprisals.

About You:

Required
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in multi-unit club management, hospitality, or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing budgets and the ability to make sound judgments in expense allocation to impact profitability.

Preferred
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred certifications include Food Handlers Certificate, Alcohol Safety, STAR Service Certification, STAR Trainer Certification, TABC Certification, and CPR Certification.
  • Skilled in handling highly confidential material, including member and employee data, with discretion and integrity.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and effective team management are essential.
