GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
This classification will conduct technical work involving overall network design, engineering, evaluation, installation, testing, upgrading, and maintaining City networks and network operating systems.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS REQUIRED
Physical Requirements:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and prolonged standing, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds). Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, smoke, temperature and noise extremes, hazardous materials, machinery, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, toxic agents, water hazards.

- Ensure the effective installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of system software and hardware.
- Manage user access and security settings, including system login scripts and directory structures, to protect data integrity and comply with organizational policies.
- Utilize tools for comprehensive system monitoring to analyze and enhance performance, system tuning and availability.
- Provide escalated technical support and user training, improving IT resource utilization and problem resolution.
- Oversee and maintain server infrastructure, including both on-premises and cloud-based environments, to ensure high availability and performance.
- Keep detailed records of system configurations, processes, and service logs. Standardize IT procedures, including system login scripts, directory structures, and security settings.
- Implement and manage backup strategies and disaster recovery plans, including regular testing and refinement, to ensure data integrity and system resilience against disruptions.
- Manage relationships with IT service and equipment vendors, ensuring strategic partnerships and efficient service delivery.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure IT solutions align with business needs, Maintaining clear communication on initiatives.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance operational efficiency and support city goals.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Bachelors degree in computer science, IT applications, or related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in network or server administration.
