LandSure is a subsidiary of the Land Title and Survey Authority of BC (LTSA), a publicly accountable, statutory corporation that manages BC's land title and survey systems. Our team of nearly 100 employees supports the LTSA through information system consulting services, project management, customer support, and communications.

What you'll do:
Reporting to the Manager of IT Infrastructure, the System Administrator (Sys Admin) plays a vital role in implementing, optimizing, and maintaining LTSA's mission-critical AWS cloud infrastructure.
Working closely with internal technical services, the Technology team, and external vendors, the Sys Admin ensures the seamless operation of AWS-based systems, enabling the organization to leverage cloud technologies for maximum efficiency and scalability.
While the environment is mixed with Linux and Windows, the Sys Admin primarily applies Linux expertise in managing AWS services such as EC2, S3, and other key AWS components. This role focuses on maintaining high availability, performance optimization, and ensuring that cloud systems are aligned with best practices for reliability and security.
The Sys Admin will also lead and contribute to innovative projects leveraging AWS technologies, including server virtualization, advanced networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect), and security initiatives (IAM, Security Groups, etc.), ensuring LTSA's cloud infrastructure remains secure, agile, and future-proof.

Key Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and support IT infrastructure and systems
- Perform operational activities including provisioning, administration, patching, upgrades, monitoring, backup, and server/network recovery
- Adopt new AWS Cloud technologies and actively participate in promoting and establishing company standards and security practices across teams
- Work with Solutions Architects and Developers in delivering AWS Cloud infrastructure requirements for a multiple account environment
- Use Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) with Terraform to implement a variety of secure and scalable Cloud infrastructure solutions on AWS
- Monitor system health to ensure optimal performance; troubleshoot issues and implement resolutions
- Assess and analyze business and system requirements, exploring alternatives to recommend technology solutions
- Participate in system architecture design, planning, and implementation of new systems and solutions
- Work with internal teams, external partners, and vendors to ensure IT projects and support requests are met
- Act as an as an escalation point for Help Desk end user support and help train junior staff as needed
- Create and maintain technical documentation
- Stay current with emerging technologies
- Serve as subject matter expert for technical initiatives and ongoing support.
- Provide off-hour, on-call support as needed. Support the leadership team in setting priorities and ensuring timely delivery of projects

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of AWS administration
- 3+ years of administering Linux systems
- 3+ years of administering Windows Active Directory (AD) and Entra ID
- Progressive experience in network and firewall administration (networking, network security, firewalls, routers, and switches)
- Experience with Cisco Meraki cloud administration an asset
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, Red Hat, Microsoft, AWS, Azure) are a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in problem identification and troubleshooting techniques, with strong hands-on experience In-depth knowledge of Windows Server and Active Directory administration
- Experience with service, system, and network monitoring tools and technologies, including widely used applications (e.g., Zabbix, Dynatrace)
- Experience with backup systems used in virtualized environments (i.e. AWS Backup, Veeam Enterprise)
- Experience with patch management and configuration management systems (i.e. RedHat Satellite Server, AWS System Manager)
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies Familiarity with web technologies and web application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat)
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Amazon EKS)
- High level of integrity and a strong sense of personal responsibility in accomplishing the organizational goals
- Passion for technology, including the communication, deployment, and implementation of IT best practices and procedures
