SCOPE OF POSITION
The System Director, Nursing Strategy and Professional Practice Implementation is a member of the nursing leadership team responsible for advancing strategic nursing priorities to become a destination for nursing and to create an environment where nursing colleagues are personally valued and professionally invested.
The System Director, Nursing Strategy and Professional Practice Implementation works under the direction of the Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Executive and in collaboration with executive nursing leadership across the health system to facilitate the design implementation and sustainment of an integrated professional practice model that spans the continuum of care, enabling professional nursing excellence and delivery of high value care to our patients.
Must possess strong practice and relationship building skills for collaboration across disciplines for implementation of new models of care delivery and translation of evidence into practice to improve quality, safety, patient experience, and the delivery of cost effective care across settings.

Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
As a system nursing leader, the System Director, Nursing Strategy and Professional Practice Implementation will:
- Be a member of the system nursing leadership team
- Collaborate and build strong partnerships with key members of the multidisciplinary team including clinical nurses, nursing leaders, physicians and ancillary leaders to drive engagement and lead care transformation and innovation
- Enable a culture of systemness by developing structures and processes that support nursing professional excellence
- Utilizes change models and or theories to facilitate and integrate nursing strategic priorities throughout Ballad Health
- Develops quantifiable models to support nursing strategy implementation
- Collaborates with nursing leadership to update initiatives through review of nursing trends and data and develop key success metrics for nursing strategies
- Create strategies, structures and processes to foster an environment that supports nurses in their professional practice, overall health and well being
- Develop strategies and infrastructure to create an organizational climate that promotes rigorous inquiry to create new knowledge (research) and translate evidence into practice (evidence-based practice [EBP]) to enhance patient care and improve the professional nurse practice environment
- Monitors and evaluates developments significant to health care policy, nursing practice and nursing quality
- Communicates through well written papers, reports, articles, presentations, and other communication venues in order to inform the work of the department, the organization, and nursing at large
- Establish and strengthen academic partnerships to prepare nurses to fulfill existing and emerging roles.
- Leads the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of system-wide projects
- Lead the development of evidence-based practice standards to reduce unwarranted variation and enable the provision of high quality, high value and person centered care across the continuum.
- Identifies key drivers of success for nursing strategies
- Oversee Ballad Health nursing's system shared leadership to enhance nursing's voice in shared decision making and advance nursing professional excellence at Ballad Health.
- Ensure professional practice environment and outcomes enable Ballad Health facilities to achieve or maintain Magnet or Pathway to Excellence designation.
- Leads Professional Practice implementation, and evaluation efforts. Collaborate with nursing leadership to embed the professional practice model into clinical practice.
- Oversees research operations/staff within the Department of Nursing.
- Acts as a resource for development of nursing research and/or articles for publication and presentations as well as the promotion of the nursing website.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Doctorate Degree in Nursing preferred, a Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Nursing are required.
Skills required:
Demonstrated experience and excellence in coaching, collaborating and influencing.
Strong organizational and change management skills, effective communication and public relations skills, and strong computer skills.
Requires ability to facilitate and lead large, diverse, multidisciplinary work groups.
Requires presentation and communication skills.
Current Licensure as RN in the state of practice (TN and/or VA).
National specialty certification in Nursing Administration required.
Five (5) years of nursing experience to include three (3) years of nursing leadership experience required.
Membership in Professional Nursing Organization.
