ABOUT THIS POSITION

Join a diverse team of talented and inspired engineers and analysts developing US Army Air and Missile Defense systems in Huntsville, Alabama.

KBR is seeking a highly organized and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team to support the Search, Track, Acquire, Radiate, Eliminate (STARE) Project Office located on Redstone Arsenal, AL. As a System Engineer, you will provide comprehensive army process and acquisition support to STARE Systems Engineering Director. System Engineer duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing an understanding of the system engineering process used in each product office under STARE
  • Assist in the development and implementation of STARE SE standard procedures.
  • Coordinating with STARE Systems Engineering Director where each product is in their process.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on engineering processes, standards, options, and documentation processes for application to rapid development and acquisition programs.
  • Coordinating and managing calendars, appointments, audio and video teleconferences.
  • Attending meetings to provide updates and capture requirements.
  • Assisting in the preparation and follow-up of meetings (including taking meeting minutes).
  • Organizing and prioritizing incoming tasks and requests.
  • Preparing and editing correspondence, reports, and presentations.
  • Conducting research and gathering information for various mission initiatives.
  • Managing and maintaining classified, controlled unclassified, confidential, and unclassified files and documents.
  • Liaising with higher headquarters, governmental organizations, stakeholders, and subordinate organizations to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintaining office electronic filing and Knowledge Management systems through Microsoft SharePoint, including key briefings, documents, and short / long range calendar.


The ideal candidate should be proactive, resourceful, independently motivated and detail oriented. The position requires good time management capabilities and communication skills.

Relocation: This is a full-time, on contractor site position located in Huntsville, AL just outside of Redstone Arsenal Gate 9 in Redstone Gateway. Candidate must be a resident or able to relocate to the area.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, Systems Engineering, mathematics, physics, or related field with 10+ years of experience as a systems engineer or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of SE processes associated DOD/Army system development and acquisition.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences or facilitate group discussions and develop accurate written materials to clearly and concisely communicate information
  • Strong presentation skills and capable of briefing audiences of varying technical knowledge
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment with multiple tasks and tight deadlines
  • Ability to build solid relationships with team members, leadership, and customers
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiar with air and missile defense systems
  • Worked with or interfaced with Army, OSD and DoD organizations and related staff processes associated with the DoD acquisition process.
  • Experience in the SE requirements development and system integration process.
  • Familiar with SW requirements development and integration into the SE process.
