PGS Worldwide is currently seeking a System Safety Engineer in Woodland Hills, CA., to join our Integrated Systems Lifecycle Engineering team. In this role, you'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to assess and enhance safety across both new and existing aerospace systems.

Job Description:
- Apply system safety engineering practices in accordance with MIL-STD-882E
- Conduct safety analyses including PHA, FHA, SHA/SSHA, Fault Tree Analysis, and Software System Safety Analysis
- Perform or review Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA)
- Identify and address system-level safety risks; recommend and implement mitigation strategies
- Document hazards using a closed-loop Hazard Tracking System
- Generate, review, and maintain system safety documents and requirements
- Interface with engineering, manufacturing, and program leadership to support product safety
- Communicate status to Control Account Managers (CAMs) and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of system safety experience, or
- Master's degree with 3+ years, or
- PhD with 1+ year of experience
- Proficiency in system safety analyses as defined in MIL-STD-882E
- Experience with FMEA/FMECA, hazard tracking, and risk mitigation strategies
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams and with customers
- U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
Desired:
- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience, Master's with 6+ years, or PhD with 4+ years
- Experience with DOORS, PTC WindChill, and Agile tools
- Familiarity with circuit schematics and component-level FMECA
- Working knowledge of military and industry standards such as:
- DO-178C, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, MIL-HDBK-516C
- Background in military aviation systems or airborne safety-critical systems
- Statistical analysis knowledge for safety and reliability assessment
