We are looking for a driven IT Infrastructure professional to join our growing team. The right candidate is both technical and strategic, and is comfortable with policies and logfiles, processes and command line, software and application vendors, and working with all levels of an organization from peers to executives. The Systems Administrator will have the opportunity to build upon our current infrastructure for the company as we grow to the next level. This role will report to Head of Information Security and will be a San Diego based role.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Setup and configure servers, workstations, switches, and other hardware
  • Oversee and work with MSP on Infrastructure and network configurations/improvements
  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization and optimize systems for better efficiency
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure proper security and data protection
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues reported by users or detected through monitoring
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, network layouts, and procedures
  • Implement solutions to scale systems and networks according to the organization's growth and requirements
  • Ensure systems comply with relevant industry regulations and standards
  • The ability to work autonomously, or within the larger IT team depending on assignment/requirements.
  • Interact with users, engineers, and scientists for support and training
  • Prepare technical reports for executive management
  • Connect organizational requirements with Infrastructure goals
  • Perform on-site administration and installation of networking equipment
  • Implement and maintain Cisco ISE and related networking technologies

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent field of study, with 10+ years of relevant experience (an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Proficiency in Windows Server and Client versions
  • Linux skills and familiarity with libraries and various distributions
  • TCP/IP, networking devices, and other networking concepts/protocols
  • Experience with Firewalls, encryption, and other security concepts
  • Keep current with latest technologies and trends
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations
  • Scripting/programming experience preferred (python, R, C++, etc.)
  • Cloud experience required (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Life science or software development experience is a plus
  • Experience configuring network switches and other networking equipment
  • Ability to manage projects independently
  • Possesses entrepreneurial spirit, communicates with honesty and kindness, and creates space for others to do the same

Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently moves boxes weighing up to 20 pounds.

Job Type:
  • Full-time/Exempt

Base Compensation Pay Range:
  • $97,000 - $118,000


In addition to base compensation noted above, you will be eligible for stock options, discretionary annual bonus, no cost health insurance plans, 401k with company match, and flexible paid time off.

Please note: Base compensation will depend on multiple factors, including geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
