Job Description:
Under the general direction of the CIO, this position is the technical expert for the creation, implementation, and/or governance of security policies and architecture, device management, vulnerability management, Google Workspaces, identity/directory architecture, cloud infrastructure, and data backup systems. This role supports IT training functions including onboarding and on-going technology professional development of staff. The position maintains responsibilities including virus threat response, IT project planning, helpdesk escalation and coverage, and transition management on projects and new innovation. The position is expected to cover, and is the technical authority, for many different domains in IT which are usually specific to one SME including: security analysis, IT project management, desktop patching, server administration, cloud management, purchasing, IT training, email tenant management, identity, and security. This position will interact with staff in remote locations and advise the CIO on business relationship needs.
This position works independently to establish work unit technical priorities and standards and to diagnose and resolve IT issues and problems agency-wide. This position works independently to proactively plan for system upgrades and other special projects required to keep emerging resources readily available to SPD management and staff. This position servers as a technical liaison between the State Public Defender and the Department of Administration, Division of Enterprise Technology (DET).

GOALS AND ACTIVITIES:

- Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures to meet data security requirements.
- Develop and implement educational programs about security.
- Develop, implement, and administer policies and procedures to enable user access to data.
- Administer and maintain individual user roles and privileges for endpoint access. B5. Support patching cadence and monitor patching success
- Plan and implement group policies across severs and endpoints
- Work with central IT organization and other justice partners to resolve endpoint
- compatibilities or comply with endpoint requirements.
Planning implementation and maintenance of new technologies, initiatives and services.
- Direct and coordinate teams for roll out of new tech services for the agency
- Answer business questions as it relates to training and support other change management functions
- Plan site moves coordinating with SPD, central IT, landlord and contractors
- Lead technical support efforts in the coordination of SPD IS staff and contractors
- Support statewide remote site locations onsite for large changes such as large laptop lifecycles, network triage, multi-factor identity deployments, telephony implementations
- Collaborate with agency developer and other justice system partners on business related projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to effectively implement best practice IT policies and procedures
- Desktop patching principles and platforms specifically Intune
- In-depth knowledge of Next-Gen antivirus specifically CrowdStrike including Spotlight and Advanced Threat, and Identity modules
- In-depth knowledge of vulnerability management and group policy
- Working knowledge of Google Workspaces tenant administration and active directory
- Working knowledge of Google Voice enterprise
- General networking configuration such as DNS/DHCP/VLANs
- Knowledge of and ability to perform technology and product research, testing, installation, customization, troubleshooting and support
- Knowledge and skill in Small/Large project leadership
- Ability to deliver quality service and maintain positive working relationships with customers
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to both technical peers and less technical customers in person and via written media such as email, reports, and project charters
- Ability to function as a Team member as well as work independently towards organization goals and objectives
