Job Title: Systems Architect
Location: Onsite - Houston, TX (HCTRA)
Job Type: Temp-to-Perm
Pay Rate: Up to $80/hour (W2 or 1099, based on qualifications)

Overview:
The Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA) is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Architect to join our technology team. This is a full-time, onsite position with the potential for permanent hire. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of enterprise architecture, systems integration, and scalable infrastructure design to support our growing technology initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement complex IT systems and infrastructure in alignment with business goals and technology strategy.
• Develop architectural solutions for system integrations, applications, databases, and networks.
• Evaluate current systems and identify areas for improvement or upgrade.
• Create detailed architectural documentation including models, diagrams, and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, operations, and project management.
• Ensure systems are secure, scalable, maintainable, and meet performance standards.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend adoption when appropriate.
• Support transition and knowledge transfer activities as the role moves from temporary to permanent.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in IT with 3+ years in a systems architect or solutions architect role.
• Strong knowledge of systems design, enterprise architecture frameworks, and infrastructure best practices.
• Proficient in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP), networking, security, and data management.
• Experience with enterprise applications, databases, and system integration platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills:

• Relevant certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert).
• Prior experience working in the public sector or transportation industry.

Work Environment:

• This position is 100% onsite at HCTRA's Houston office.
• Standard business hours; occasional after-hours support may be required.
