Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Systems Engineer to join our team. This critical role supports a complex DHS effort within the CBP Passenger Systems Program Directorate (PSPD), which ensures the seamless screening and processing of travelers at U.S. ports of entry.

As a Systems Engineer, you will work collaboratively with application teams, end-users, PSPD Divisions, and infrastructure teams to maintain system performance, resolve technical challenges, and ensure the reliability of production systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide O&M support for applications in a production AWS Cloud environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues swiftly to minimize disruptions.
  • Monitor production applications and databases to ensure consistent and optimal performance.
  • Analyze recurring issues and implement effective long-term solutions.
  • Participate in 24/7/365 O&M operations, including weekends, nights, and holidays as needed.
  • Use ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA to track and resolve issues.

Requirements
  • Work Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days a week onsite in Ashburn, VA (Candidate must reside in the DMV area)
  • Clearance: DoS Top Secret or DHS Full-BI
  • Education: BS/BA degree with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of experience. (4 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree)
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to the start.
  • Proven experience supporting applications in AWS Cloud environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and monitoring skills for production applications and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve recurring issues.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and JIRA.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Kibana, and Grafana.
  • Experience configuring hardware devices and supporting Linux and Windows scripting.
  • Proficiency in software installation and familiarity with the Agile/Scrum methodology.
