About the Role:

Trinity IT is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer I to join our growing IT and engineering team in support of our contract with the US Navy. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about integrating complex systems and thinking holistically about how software, web applications, and hardware interact. As a Systems Engineer, you'll help oversee the full development cycle-from design to roll out-for hybrid technology solutions that span software, hardware, and network environments.

This position is contingent on contract award.

This position requires a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance, which requires US citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of integrated software, web, and hardware systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather specifications and translate requirements into functional systems.
  • Support the integration of operating systems, applications, and hardware components.
  • Ensure that all system components function cohesively as part of a reliable, resilient solution.
  • Assist in troubleshooting system issues and providing long-term maintenance support.
  • Take a "big picture" approach to projects while addressing both technical and operational needs, including details like cost, schedules and social issues that may be associated with the project.
  • Help ensure systems meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active SECRET clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in systems design, integration, or IT project support (internships and academic projects are welcome).
  • Basic understanding of system architecture, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and IT infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with network operating systems, hardware platforms, and modern web technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to DevOps practices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.), or virtualization technologies.
  • Basic scripting or coding ability (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, JavaScript).
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary projects involving both software and hardware.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
