Job Description:
Position Summary
- Systems Engineer will play a key role in the design, planning, execution, and installation of the current infrastructure to support new applications and technologies.
- Support software and hardware upgrades and maintenance of Windows servers, operating systems, infrastructure systems, and applications.
- Must have extensive experience with standard industry practices including management of Windows Server systems. Systems Engineer capabilities with 8 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, independently performs a variety of complicated tasks, a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Objectives and Tasks
- Administer DFI server infrastructure
- Recommend, install, maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and document DFI Windows-based server systems, including (but not limited to) Windows Server, SQL Server, and Microsoft IIS
- Maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and document DFI VMWare vCenter system.
- Maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and document DFI Dell Unity SAN system.
- Maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and document DFI internal security systems, such as Nessus, CrowdStrike, and system patching
- Research, install, and maintain software monitoring systems to ensure the Department achieves its goal of minimal downtime and peak performance.
- Provide reports and schematics as directed by the DFI management.
- Act as a consultant to the IT Solution Delivery section to ensure seamless deployment and maintenance of web pages, business systems and applications.
- Administer Active Directory domain infrastructure.
Design and administer DFI cloud systems
- Recommend, install, maintain, optimize, troubleshoot, and document DFI cloud systems in Microsoft Azure.
- Participate in IT bureau projects in an infrastructure capacity to implement new cloud-based systems
- Research and maintain currency in relevant industry trends, provide recommendations for implementation of new technologies, generate project plans to ensure successful adoption of new technologies.
- Research, install, and maintain software monitoring systems to ensure the Department achieves its goal of minimal downtime and peak performance.
Support DFI end-users.
- Provide first and second-level end-user IT support by email, phone, or in-person.
- Participate in triage of IT help desk tickets.
- Possess considerable logic and understanding to analyze and troubleshoot problems.
- Must be able to prioritize trouble calls and respond to emergencies and all levels of troubleshooting.
- Ability to perform as second level support as a secondary function.
Knowledge /Skills/Ability (KSA):
- Knowledge of Windows desktop support.

- Experience implementing Azure Cloud technologies.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and Group Policy Management.
- Experience in writing PowerShell scripts to automate system engineering tasks.
- Experience managing a Dell Unity SAN system.
- Experience managing Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).
- Experience managing Microsoft Windows Server.
- Experience managing Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience supporting organizations by working within a help desk ticketing system.
- Expert working knowledge of Microsoft server operating systems.
- Expert working knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware.
- Expert working knowledge of ITIL and ITSM principles
