Job Responsibilities:
- Apply extensive theoretical and practical expertise in systems engineering throughout the acquisition process.
- Review program portfolios to assess and recommend alternative strategies, enhance systems engineering programs and processes, maintain program technical baselines, and design/conduct system-level tests to ensure subsystems and systems meet approved performance specifications.
- Perform program assessments to evaluate proposed plans, systems engineering programs, designs, and test results, ensuring alignment with program performance requirements.
- Develop technical documentation that defines, specifies, and suggests system and subsystem attributes. Prepare management reports and deliver technical presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions, incorporating engineering economy principles.
- Validate systems by creating criteria and procedures, and analyze the outcomes of major engineering systems.
- Offer system/program engineering and technical support, including training, to support initiatives across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment, fielding, installation, and operations.
- Contribute to program and project risk management activities in compliance with the Air Force Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM) processes.
- Perform problem and gap analysis, trade-space analysis, roadmap analysis, concept development through "Set-based design," Multi-Objective Decision Analysis, and cost vs. capability trade-off analysis.
- Apply Digital Engineering, Digital Thread, and Digital Twin methodologies across the entire system lifecycle.
- Active Secret security clearance required; some roles may require a Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
- Positions may be filled at either the Journeyman or Senior level.
Journeyman Level:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field, with at least 3 years of experience in the technical/professional discipline (including 3 years in DoD), or 7 years of directly related experience (5 years in DoD).
- A degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred.
Senior Level:
- Master's or Doctorate degree in a relevant field and 10 years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline (5 years in DoD), or
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 12 years of experience (5 years in DoD), or
- 15 years of directly related experience, with at least 8 years in DoD.
- A degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred.
