Job Description
The District Attorney IT Program (DAIT) is currently recruiting a System Engineer III position for coordination, design,

implementation, securing, and management of infrastructure and systems in support of DAIT's projects and

operations. The position will be remote though the candidate must reside in Wisconsin.

Position Summary

The Systems Engineer plays a key role in supporting and enhancing existing and emerging technologies (on-

premises and cloud) that are designed to support, secure and enhance DAIT's technology infrastructure, data

protection, security, and systems performance. This position will be part of a systems and services modernization

effort as a member of the core team that includes other DAIT technical and developer team members.

DAIT is in a multi-year project to modernize its DA case management system, PROTECT, which includes updating

select infrastructure services and functions, enhancing system performance, deploying intelligent monitoring and

storage, and integrating tighter security controls to maintain regulatory compliance.

Experience:

REQUIRED
At least 13 years of experience engineering on-

premises and cloud environment, including

migrations, configurations, security, deployments,

and management.
Experience modernizing the application and

network infrastructure of legacy systems.
Experience with networks, WAN / LAN connectivity,

hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls), their

configuration, maintenance, and lifecycles.
Experience configuring and managing data backup

and recovery systems.
Experience configuring and administering modern

authentication services (such as MFA and Entra ID /

AD)
Experience with security administration in

applications and cloud services (such as Zscaler).
Experience with networking and developing,

securing, and managing hybrid network

communications
Experience securing systems, networks and

workflows requiring compliance based (such as

CJIS) data security requirements.
Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying

potential system issues and making

STRONGLY DESIRED
Experience with or knowledge of legacy and

modern technologies, enterprise-level system

design, automation, planning, deployment,

security, and administration, system performance

monitoring, user directories, virtualization, and

network communications.
Experience in Azure cloud services.

Expertise in analyzing and repairing enterprise-

Experience establishing and maintaining

Agile methodologies, continuous product

improvement, and feature prioritization.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the systems and developer teams to ensure high reliability and performance of servers and

software that are fulfilling business objectives and processes.
Standardize and automate processes using scripting and other common tools.
Establish requirements, design, and deploy enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating

systems.
Evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems and provide recommendations to improve utilization.
Coordinate and perform system tests, including end-user reviews, for production systems.
Monitor and trend system performance and create reports illustrating the trends.
Collaborate with team members to audit system security to maintain regulatory and policy compliance.
Provide multi-tier, escalated support to customers.
Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, mappings, and processes.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team, customers, vendors and all others using

principles of excellent customer service.
Perform onsite hardware lifecycles, troubleshooting, and optimizations.
Some travel in the State of Wisconsin. Requires a valid driver's license and the ability to meet the State's

minimum requirements for using fleet vehicles.
Performs additional related duties as assigned.
