Summary
The Systems Operations Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Systems Operations and Administration Team which includes troubleshooting complex system issues and providing support to the Tier 2 support teams as needed. This role is responsible for performing required systems maintenance such as monthly patching, vulnerability remediation and system updates.

Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Support and Administration of Virtual and Bare Metal Servers and Appliances
- Windows Server and Vendor Appliances
- VMWare Virtualization and Azure Virtual Machines
- Active Directory including Group Policy, Certificate Management, and Domain Services.
- Support and Administration of Branch Networks
- Location specific switching, routing, and wireless.
- DHCP & DNS Services
- Support and Administration of Microsoft 365 and Azure products, services, and collaboration tools.
- Support and guide Tier 1 & Tier 2 Operational Staff in workflow issues, handling escalations as needed, and ensuring the completion of customer deliverables in a timely fashion.
- Provide clear documentation of systems, processes, and procedures for areas of administration, troubleshooting, and adjacent systems.
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly maintenance and monitoring of IT and business systems, identifying and documenting areas for improvement.
- Provide first alert response to system events, notices, and alerts, notifying adjacent teams and management of areas of impact, and engaging additional resources as needed for resolution.
- Respond to critical systems issues including branch networking, application support, server, and backup support.
- Triage security events and engages with Cyber Security incident responders to validate and contain issues under Cyber Security guidance.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
- Provide exceptional IT support to internal customers across geographical locations ensuring a continuous high level of customer
- satisfaction.
- Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in core system architecture, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
- Assist in maintenance/management of Greenbrier storage and backup architecture.
- Document configurations (updating CMDB, Visio Diagrams, project deliverables) as needed.
Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science information systems and 3 years' experience, or a minimum of 5 years' experience supporting enterprise systems in lieu of a degree.
- Possess the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deliver customer service that provides excellent end user support experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft Windows architecture including general knowledge of system management best practices for Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft Azure, Intune, SQL Server, Active Directory (AD), Group Policy, SCCM.
- Experience within virtualized server infrastructure, including backup management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing, administering, and supporting Azure (IaaS} or Cloud Security.
- Technical certifications such as Network+, Security+ or Microsoft's MCSA, MCSE
