POSITION SUMMARY:

The Camera Systems Senior Architect (CSSA) is the owner of Stoneridge's next generations of cameras. The CSSA defines the architecture and leads a cross-functional team to design camera platforms and products.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Understand customer needs and the Commercial Vehicle (CV) and Off-Road-Equipment (ORE) environment.
  • Build customer connections and engage in advanced projects.
  • Create holistic camera platform and lead its development for:
    • Disciplines: optics, mechanics, packaging, electronics, communication, connectors, sealing, illumination, heating, washing and more.
    • Scalability: range, flexibility: size, field-of-view (FoV), resolution, color-filter-array (CFA)
    • Harmonization: compute capabilities, algorithm requirements and special customer requirements
    • Simulation
    • Modeling
  • Collaborate with purchasing and (advanced) manufacturing.
  • Keep close supplier relations on technical / innovation level. Define requirements and KPIs. Scout new components.
  • Create prototypes; coordinate in-house and external assembly; test, characterization and validation.
  • Define next steps like field tests, validation plan, improvement plan etc.
  • Create camera lab for prototyping and IQ lab.
  • Mentor members of the Advanced Engineering team to create interdisciplinary understanding and help develop individual capabilities.
  • Help create future business opportunities and support ongoing projects and business.
  • Project planning and tracking, resource allocation/needs and scheduling.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, such as Physics, Mechanical, Electrical or related (e.g. system, optical, aerospace, robotics, computer). Prefer Master's level.
  • At least five (5) years experience in camera development touching all disciplines.
  • Demonstrated involvement/leadership for successful product launches.
  • Experience in camera characterization, IQ. Experience in simulation (e.g. Zemax)
  • Team leadership skills in CFT environment. Experience in interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Experience in working with customers, building respectful and robust relationships.
  • Savvy in automotive, trucks, trailers, construction and/or agricultural equipment and driving assistance technologies.
  • Hands-on. Precise. Ingenious.
  • Good knowledge of automotive functional safety (ISO26262) and ASPICE standards
  • Experience working with requirements management tools (Polarion/DOORS NG)
  • Forward thinking with an eye for innovation

  • Comfortable with occasional travel to various North American customers


ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS:
  • Relocation assistance is not offered for this position, and candidates must reside within a commutable distance to Novi, Michigan
  • This role requires on-site presence a minimum of four (4) days per week, with the option to work remotely one (1) day per week
