The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Tailings Planning Engineer to join our Albian Tailings Engineering team. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine and tailings plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Mine Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups.

The Opportunity:
Are you passionate about Engineering in a world class mining facility? We are currently looking for a Tailings Planning Engineer to join our Albian Tailings Engineering team. In this role, you will be given the opportunity to showcase your expertise by supporting the evaluation, development, and execution of mine and tailings plans through collaboration with Canadian Natural Mine Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance and Mine Technical Services groups.
- Job location: Calgary, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8 hour shifts
- Safety sensitive position: Yes
- Application deadline: February 20, 2025
Key Accountabilities:
- Develop and communicate detailed 90-day to 1-year tailings plans and schedules in support of the safe, reliable and cost effective operation of Albian Oil Sands
- Implement best practices in tailings planning to improve efficiency, sustainability, and safety
- Collaborate with the Tailings Operations, Mine Planning and Geotechnical teams to ensure plan optimization while maintaining regulatory compliance
- Responsible for maintenance, operation and upkeep of the tailings model and reports
- Maintain orderly data, perform consistent accurate calculations and use mine and tailings planning software to complete assigned tasks
- Identify and development or project scope to support plan execution
What You Bring to the Role:
- 3+ years of related industry experience
- Degree in Mine, Geological or Civil engineering
- Registered with APEGA, or eligible to register
- Previous experience in Oilsands Mining preferred
- Experience with tailings planning software; Maptek Vulcan, and Minebridge Muk3D, preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Advanced Microsoft Excel skills would be an asset
- Class 5 driver's license or equivalent
