About the Role:
Superluminal seeks a highly motivated, intellectually curious, and team-oriented senior drug discovery scientist. The ideal candidate will have a background in molecular pharmacology and/or molecular and cellular biology, and experience in drug target identification and validation in pharma or biotech. As a key member of the Target ID team, the candidate will continuously monitor the competitive landscape for Superluminal's existing pipeline and will be responsible for evaluating new drug discovery programs, utilizing the latest research biology techniques and a deep understanding of disease biology and target identification.
The position will report directly to the Target ID Team Leader. This individual will play a critical role in maximizing the potential of Superluminal's existing drug discovery programs and defining opportunities for further growth.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the other members of the Target ID team to identify, evaluate, and validate value-creating new drug discovery target opportunities and maximize the target product profile of the existing pipeline
- Use expertise in drug discovery to review proposed collaborations, licensing, and strategic partnerships, including due diligence, drafting, and providing scientific input for Target ID recommendations
- Develop a compelling rationale for the expansion of the product pipeline by utilizing in-depth scientific research data, and disease biology training applied to new target identification
- Work cross-functionally to establish and manage Superluminal's product portfolio, including defining and monitoring target product profiles for each program, and aligning strategic priorities with portfolio planning and prioritization. Contribute to scenario planning and risk assessments
- Provide drug discovery insights to support therapeutic focus areas and program prioritization in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Develop and implement competitive intelligence processes to support pipeline priorities and new target selection
- Support discovery research operations across a fast-growing start-up organization
- Collaborate closely with other discovery team members, and finance, IP, legal, and project management colleagues to bridge science and business and bring scientific insights to Superluminal's decision-making for target prioritization
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience in research in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical industries, including new target identification and managing aspects of a small molecule drug discovery program
- Familiarity with small molecule drug discovery programs as a biology representative with a basic understanding of associated disciplines, e.g. DMPK, toxicity/safety assessment, and medicinal chemistry
- Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to due diligence drug discovery programs from a biology perspective
