ABOUT THE JOB

The Tepa Companies are seeking a Tax Compliance Manager who will be accountable for accurately planning, processing, and auditing tax payments and filings for all US FEIN's. The Payroll Tax Analyst develops, implements, and oversees all tax-related processes, systems, trainings, and tools required to maintain tax compliance across the organization.

Job Functions:
  • Independently research and understand tax laws, regulations, and nuances to maintain tax compliance
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with changing tax regulations
  • Work closely with internal payroll and finance teams, external advisors, legal consultants, and tax authorities to ensure compliance and develop tax strategies that minimize risks and optimize tax benefits
  • Analyze and create efficiencies and standard operating procedures for all new and existing tax-related processes
  • Create processes, tools, and trainings to maintain tax compliance
  • Ensure timely and accurate tax filings for all applicable jurisdictions
  • Reconcile and track all tax filings and withholdings processed through Tepa's HRIS
  • Assist with process automation and system improvements related to tax compliance, including set-up and maintenance of processes for tax data transfer and feeds from HRIS to other systems
  • Manage proper local tax set up at the employee level
  • Manage tax audits, researching and responding to inquiries from tax authorities
  • Assist with reconciliation requests for the General Ledger
  • Process corporate income, sales, and use tax filings and remittances
  • Review tax provision calculations and assist in financial reporting for tax-related matters
  • Provide guidance on tax implications for new business activities, mergers, acquisitions, and expansions into new states
  • Support Payroll team in understanding tax set up for all new work locations
  • Consult with Project Managers regarding new work locations as jobs are bid


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, tax, accounting, auditing, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of multi-state payroll and corporate tax experience, including experience managing tax audits and resolving federal, state, and local tax issues
  • Global payroll and corporate tax experience preferred, but not required
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or MST (Master's in Taxation) designation preferred, but not required
  • Deep knowledge of multi-state tax regulations, including payroll tax, sales and use tax, and income tax
  • Expert with efficiencies and multitasking
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage complex tax projects across multiple states
  • Intermediate Excel Skills
  • Independent worker
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
