Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP is seeking an Associate with 3-5 years of experience to work with its Tax Controversy team within the Tax practice group in the Atlanta or Washington, DC office locations. We are looking to add a team member, with federal tax controversy experience, who will join a practice that advises clients on the full range of policy, planning, and controversy matters.
We cultivate exceptional attorneys across all levels by providing them with the experiences and resources needed to build successful careers! The Associate will join a supportive practice that counsels domestic and multinational corporations with respect to a wide range of tax matters including, the Advance Pricing Agreement program, foreign tax credits, partnerships, consolidated returns, transfer pricing, repatriation, the domestic manufacturing production deduction, tax accounting issues, and complex financial transactions. Additionally, the Associate will have extensive interaction with clients across a variety of industries, and the opportunity to be part of a practice that provides advice to a broad range of Fortune 100 companies.

We are seeking candidates who possess key qualities and skills for this position.
- Three to five years of law firm or government experience.
- Skills related to a broad range of federal tax litigation and controversy matters.
- A strong background resolving complex tax matters in many industries with IRS appeals, using the IRS alternative dispute resolution programs, and in litigation.
- Experience representing clients involved in tax litigation and administrative controversy including examination, appeals, and litigation in the U.S. Tax Court, US District Courts/Court of Federal Claims, and the Courts of Appeal
- Excellent writing and analytical skills.
- Strong academic records and impressive communication abilities.
- Expectation that candidate will work in the office at least three days per week.
- Confidence, self-motivation, a team-player mindset, and the ability to assume responsibility for matters in an active practice.
