ESSENTIAL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Position will have responsibility to manage all aspects of federal and state income taxes for the company, including preparation of the US consolidated return, preparation of US tax provision, management of Federal income tax audits, oversight of State income tax and US and Canadian indirect tax compliance and audits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish strategies to optimize businesses regarding federal, state, and indirect taxes.
  • Supervise and manage department personnel; Manager-State Tax, Senior Tax Accountant and Tax Accountant.
  • Actively manage relationships with third-party tax advisors to synthesize and achieve balance between in-house and external tax support.
  • Manage completion of federal, state and local tax filings, including management of R&D credit process and other tax credit processes.
  • Preparation of US components of Global income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
  • Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations and enforcement that may impact tax positions, including tax accounting implications.
  • Manage tax projects from a Federal and State perspective including due diligence, tax impacts of new locations, products and/or services, and all tax studies.
  • Ensure adherence to established internal controls (SOX) related to tax matters.
  • Provide input for establishment and maintenance of formal tax policies, practices and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and applicable tax regulations
  • Prepare and ensure compliance of timely payments of company state and local income tax across multiple jurisdictions, including estimated payments and extensions.
  • Manage audits, notices and enquiries received from federal and state tax authorities.
  • Assist the Finance team in cash forecasting and management.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • The candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and take the initiative to contribute to the efficient operation of the tax department.
  • Will serve as a critical link in the supervision and mentoring of the tax staff.
  • Successful candidate must be proactive, possess the ability to meet all deadlines and help shape the direction of the tax department.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state and local corporate income tax, sales/use and property tax.
  • A mix of experience with public accounting and multinational, publicly traded corporate environment preferred.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation required.
  • A minimum of 10 combined years of taxation experience in public accounting and/or publicly traded company with a minimum 5 years in public accounting
  • Must have worked a minimum of 2 years at public accounting Senior Manager level or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in tax research & planning required.
  • Must have strong ASC-740 and Federal/State compliance experience
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational and analytical skills
  • Mergers & Acquisitions experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with US transfer pricing preferred


LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

CPA preferred

COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Microsoft Outlook including advanced Excel skills
  • OneSource Tax compliance and provision software (or equivalent) experience
  • Tax research software e.g., Checkpoint
