JOB SUMMARY: The Tax Manager will have the opportunity to make significant contributions in the following areas: 1) Tax Compliance, 2) Tax Accounting/SEC Reporting, 3) Tax Planning, 4) Tax Audits/Controversies, and 5) Special Projects. This position will support the Global Tax Director and work with the Tax Services Provider to deliver on projects across all areas of corporate tax.

  • Provide leadership in all tax matters. Manage 3rd party Tax Services Provider. Obtain, compile, and analyze data for the timely completion of federal, state, and local income tax returns, estimates, and extensions. Review returns prepared by Tax Services Provider with a focus on accuracy and minimizing the current payable.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision calculations, including reconciling tax accounts, coordinating the delivery of foreign tax packages, and preparing full-year taxable income forecasts.
  • Responsible for US and Canada Indirect tax compliance. Provide guidance and assistance with International VAT questions. Partner with the Shared Services Center on sales/use tax registrations, taxability determinations and exemptions, and interface with ERPs.
  • Responsible for Month-end Close - Entries, Account Reconciliations, etc.
  • Lead the R&D Credit process in US and Internationally.
  • Assist with M&A, due diligence, integration and initiate tax planning and research to minimize overall tax liability.
  • Represent the company in tax audits, develop appropriate positions and strategies. Draft responses to tax notices and tax audit information document requests.
  • Monitor business activities and changes in tax law; understand impact to Company and ensure compliance in all federal, state, and local jurisdiction.
  • Research and develop positions for tax issues as they arise; clearly communicate findings both orally and in writing.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • M.S. Accounting or MBA (preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and international income tax concepts.
  • Tax provision experience, preferably with companies operating across numerous jurisdictions - both domestically and internationally.
  • Minimum 7 years in public accounting or corporate environment.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments/projects and multi-task within restricted time constraints.
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills.
  • Outstanding change management skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, team building, and planning skills.
  • Aptitude to resolve issues under tight timeframes and pressure.

  • Knowledge of International Financial & Reporting Standards (IFRS).

COMPETENCIES

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Microsoft Office Suite; ERP systems, ADP, Epicor and/or D365 is beneficial. Familiarity with EPM tools (e.g., Hyperion, TM1, etc.) preferred.
  • Economics and accounting- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
  • Mathematics-Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • English Language-Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
