Description:
The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring the business's compliance with various local, state, and federal tax regulations. They will actively monitor current and impending changes to tax regulations and make necessary updates to policies and strategies to maintain compliance.

Physical requirements include arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard, ten-key, and telephone; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 40 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting, reaching, balancing, bending, crawling, handling, feeling, kneeling, climbing, twisting; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working environment is primarily indoors in an office setting and occasionally outdoors for special events; requires some evening and possible weekend hours and requires use of telephone and other office equipment. This position is subject to occasional mandatory overtime.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage sales, use, and property tax audits.
- Oversee the cost of and relationship with outside sales tax processors.
- Ensure timely collection and remittance of sales and use taxes.
- Educate Purchasing and other employees on sales and use tax laws.
- Reconcile tax accounts in the general ledger on a monthly basis and make necessary adjustments.
- Manage the timely and accurate filing and renewal of business licenses for the company.
- Ensure the collection and completeness of exemption certificates from distributors.
- Respond to distributor questions regarding sales tax charged on orders.
- Manage the accurate charging/collection of sales tax in the order entry system.
- Prepare and file property tax returns.
- Provide information necessary to prepare income tax returns and provision to external tax preparers.
- Prepare tax information requested during external audits of financial statements.
- Assist with the preparation of Form 1099 filings.
- Prepare and present helpful tax information to distributors.
- Provide information necessary to prepare international income and VAT returns to external tax preparers.
- Other duties as requested by business need.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR POSITION:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales and use tax.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, including the ability to work independently under time constraints and with flexibility.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement.
- Technical skills in applying sales and use, income, property, and international tax accounting principles.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Consistent and regular attendance is expected.
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED FOR POSITION:
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant certifications preferred.
- Master's degree in taxation or related field.
