Description:
Join our team at Novo Nordisk as a Tax Manager, where you will be instrumental in managing and supporting our Corporate Tax Mission. You will ensure a competitive level of tax in a responsible way and report directly to the Director of Tax, Procurement, and Facilities. This role is pivotal for tax compliance initiatives and supporting local and global tax responsibilities at Novo Nordisk in Canada.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
TAX OPERATIONS - EXTERNAL:
- Prepare filings for NNCI Canadian Federal & Provincial Income Tax Returns, including detailed T106 Forms, NR4s, T4ANRs, T661 SR&ED Claims, and other necessary forms and elections.
- Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships to enhance business understanding and provide high-quality deliverables.
- Prepare responses to Federal and Provincial audit queries and review Regulation 105/102 withholding requirements related to services provided to NNCI.
- Assist in preparing Notices of Objection when applicable and support the tax filing process for other Canadian entities.
- Prepare and submit Excise Tax Returns as required.
TAX OPERATIONS - INTERNAL:
- Prepare NNCI annual and interim tax provisions and forecasts, timely calculating current and deferred tax accounts.
- Ensure accurate completion and submission of the tax pages of the Annual Questionnaire to HQ.
- Manage return to accrual entries for NNCI, monthly corporate estimates, and tax account reconciliations.
- Develop and maintain well-documented internal controls over tax processes and prepare tax entries in the tax ledger, ensuring accuracy in SAP.
- Focus on benefit realization with SAP S/4HANA and assist the Director with business development opportunities.
TAX INCENTIVES:
- Prepare supporting documentation for SR&ED claims and manage the filing process to ensure timely accuracy of Canadian Federal and Provincial incentives.
- Collaborate with Clinical Operations to ensure compliance with CRA guidelines and prepare calculations for annual reporting to the PMPRB.
- Maintain thorough documentation of all credit and incentive claims for tax files and support tax audit inquiries related to incentives.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary contact for internal stakeholders on tax-related inquiries and assist the Tax Director in optimizing processes through the finance digital agenda.
- Provide support for Transfer Pricing and Indirect Tax tasks as needed and assist with ad hoc projects from stakeholders.
- Research and address tax issues that arise, providing advice and recommendations as necessary.
- Focus on reviewing current processes, identifying improvements, and supporting the overall tax strategy.
KEY COMPLIANCE:
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant taxation laws and ensure compliance for Novo Nordisk in Canada, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance compliance and mitigate risks.
EDUCATION (Minimum Requirements):
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; an accounting designation is preferred.
EXPERIENCE (Minimum Requirements):
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in Canadian corporate tax, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Strong technical knowledge across a range of complex tax issues, with corporate tax return preparation experience.
- Attention to detail, self-motivated, independent work capability; familiarity with SAP, Alteryx, and Corporate Taxprep software is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Job requires less than 5% travel; head office based.
