JOB SUMMARY

The Tax Senior/Manager role requires extensive knowledge of tax processes in compliance with laws and regulations and successful management of the tax-related intricacies of consolidated c-corporations in the oil and gas sector, along with related transactions, and knowledge of sales and use tax, property and ad valorem taxes and other applicable taxes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, Review and manage all Federal and State income tax filings, including coordination with external parties, making process improvements where appropriate .
  • Prepare, Review and manage annual and quarterly ASC 740, Income Tax Provisions, including coordination with external reviewers and third party auditors. Respond to all auditor inquiries.
  • Review financials and internal GAAP memos to ensure accurate reporting and treatment for tax related matters.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place over Accounting for Income Taxes.
  • Prepare wires and check requests for payment of taxes and code to correct general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local authorities for tax related matters.
  • Provide process improvements to streamline compliance.
  • Mentor and train as needed regarding recent developments impacting the industry and the Company.
  • Monitor account activity for changes in rates, purchases, accruals, etc., and use reason to provide written explanations of variances
  • Use discretion to scrutinize accounting records for unusual/extraordinary transactions, investigate findings, and provide resolution.
  • Respond to inquiries from Accounts Payable regarding the appropriate excise tax treatment of items.
  • Register entities in new taxing jurisdictions, as required.
  • Maintain all compliance records in accordance with document retention policies.
  • Research tax issues and work on special projects as needed.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual excise/motor fuel returns/use tax/property tax/misc. for submittal to federal & state agencies and corresponding account reconciliations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


HIRING REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Equivalent required
  • CPA Certification required
  • 5+ years of tax accounting in federal and/or state tax from a public firm or corporate tax department
  • Proficient in Excel

COMPENSATION PACKAGE
  • Salary range $80,000 - $150,000 based on level of experience
