At Pacific Smoke International, our mission is to help people quit smoking by providing safer alternatives to traditional cigarettes. As the leading distributor of electronic vaporizers and award-winning vaping products in Canada, we've made significant progress since our founding in 2013. However, we have much more to accomplish for our customers, and we're looking for a culturally aligned Network and System Administrator to join our dynamic team located in Markham.

This is a hybrid (2-3 days in our Markham office) position.

The Team Lead, Data & Analytics will provide strategic leadership for the data and analytics team, driving data-driven decision-making across the organization. This role will oversee data infrastructure, analytics, business intelligence (BI), and data governance to ensure the organization leverages data as a strategic asset. The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with strong technical expertise and business acumen, capable of aligning data strategies with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Strategy
  • Define and execute the organization's data and analytics strategy, aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and manage a team of data engineers, analysts, BI developers, and data governance specialists.
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization.


Data Infrastructure Management
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of robust data pipelines, warehouses, and infrastructure.
  • Ensure data systems are secure, scalable, and optimized for performance.
  • Evaluate and implement modern data tools and technologies to enhance efficiency.


Analytics and Insights
  • Drive the use of advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and machine learning to generate business insights.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify analytical opportunities and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of analytics solutions and their business impact.


Business Intelligence (BI)
  • Oversee the creation of interactive dashboards and reports to provide real-time insights.
  • Work with stakeholders to define KPIs and ensure reporting meets business needs.
  • Champion the development of self-service BI capabilities for business users.


Data Governance
  • Implement and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, compliance, and security.
  • Establish standards for data management, metadata, and stewardship.


Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner with IT, operations, and business leaders to align data initiatives with organizational priorities.
  • Act as a thought leader, educating stakeholders on the value of data and analytics.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and consultants as needed.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in data and analytics roles, with at least 3+ years in a leadership position.
  • Proven strong technical and hand-on experience in managing data infrastructure, analytics, BI, and governance in a corporate environment.


Skills and Expertise
  • Strong technical background with experience in data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift), ELT/ETL tools (e.g., dbt, Fivetran), and analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Advanced knowledge of data modeling, SQL, Python, and/or R.
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable business strategies.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in implementing machine learning models and AI solutions.
