What a day looks like:
  • Work with product managers, internal stakeholders, external vendors and partners, to design, develop, implement and operationally manage all data processing solutions
  • Analyze and develop solutions used to implement business requirements documented in Mercury Financial's task and issue ticketing system
  • Supervise and oversee the work performed by Data Engineers to ensure the standard practices, design patterns, frameworks and technologies are being followed
  • Collaborate on projects with other ETL and Platform Architects to formulate enterprise end-to-end solutions, document low level design, and drive the development, UAT and production implementation
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team ('QA') to validate their testing approach and methodologies
  • As part of our SDLC process, perform code reviews and act as a gate keeper for code moving between environments
  • Ensure solutions are thoroughly tested in the UAT environment; that they are deployed and operate as expected in the production environment
  • Work with other operational team members and the issues management team, to report on and correct production issues as they arise
  • Participate in regular team meetings with other Data Services team members and provide regular updates on your progress with peers


You're perfect for this role if you have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other relevant degree, required
  • Extensive Knowledge of Python, SQL (preferably with a focus on the Amazon Redshift database), and the Unix/Linux command line, required
  • Knowledge and experience with agile development methodologies
  • 10+ Years experience in Data Processing, Data Warehousing and expertise in any ETL tools such as DataStage, Informatica or AbInitio (a plus)
  • Data Modeling experience, required
  • Strong understanding of data processing and ETL concepts
  • Expertise in cloud applications and infrastructures, including AWS (a plus)
  • Maintains a "hands-on" attitude. Strives to understand, educate and mentor team members, and grow in knowledge
  • Detail-orientated with excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Financial industry knowledge, required (preferably with credit card processing)
  • Prior supervisory experience (a plus)
