Duties:
Responsibilities include: Under broad direction, uses drilling domain expertise to develop technical engineering solutions to improve customer/PSL performance for assigned geography and publishes commercial and technical successes. Continually interacts with the customer to understand current and future engineering requirements and project objectives. Individuals at this level are considered the senior technical specialists for the local organization in the application of products, services, concepts, principles, and processes related to drilling services and in presenting this information to customers. Responsible for the preparation and delivery to the customer of the design of service requirements for drilling services. Identifies opportunities for use of additional services and new technologies for existing customers. Performs risk analysis and applies critical lessons learned to future operations. Performs post-job reviews, participates in product/service failure investigations and reports findings to the customer. Peer-reviews and mentors less experienced team members. Offers advice on equipment capabilities and advises customers and field personnel on technical complexity and operation.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any discipline) or related field and 10 years of experience in the job offered or in a Tech Prof - DES (Drilling Engineering Solutions), IV-related occupation.
Position requires experience in the following:
1. Experience with directional drilling computer software such as survey calculations, well-to-well clearance calculations, ellipse of uncertainty calculations, well path projections, BHA analysis (static and dynamic), torque and drag modeling and vibration analysis.
2. Experience in US GOM deepwater operations including but not limited to conductor jet-in techniques, riser-less salt entry applications with rotary steerable systems, open water work and drilling applications in jetting casing while drilling, complex BHA solutions (underreaming, rathole eliminators, full suite of LWD technologies: legacy and new technologies, vibration mitigation tools, bypass subs), BHA planning optimization on dual activity rigs and managed pressure drilling operations.
3. Experience conducting post-mortem analysis / technical presentations on directional drilling services, presenting data analysis, lessons learned and continuous improvement opportunities.
4. Experience with surface and downhole drilling parameters such as weight on bit, torque on bit, bending moment, flow rate, pressure, downhole tool revolutions and vibration sensors to provide real-time recommendations to optimize drilling performance and mitigate drill string vibration.
5. Experience in managing in-house directional drilling services at customer offices during planning and execution including daily interaction and direct support to the client, expanding to special projects and requests outside of specific projects, as well as acting as a subject matter expert / focal point.
6. Experience with point-the-bit and intelligent push-the-bit rotary steerable systems, drilling optimization tools, and logging while drilling new technology tools.
