The Technical Director is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the design/new product development road map for CCL Design. The candidate must understand CCL Technologies and also understand the needs in product decoration and functionality of key consumer electronics products.

Duties and responsibilities:

Key focus areas within CCL Design Electronics as Technical Director are:
  • Work with the sales team to develop and close new opportunities and develop new products. The candidate must understand CCL Design products and be able to discuss their application with defined customers.
  • Work with the Global Technical teams to understand all new products being developed.
  • Train the sales team on all applicable processes for new products
  • Work directly with customers technical teams to develop solutions incorporating CCL Design technologies


Main Responsibilities:
  • Managing the key Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, Branding and Commodity Mgmt. Groups
    • Work with the CCL Design centers in the Americas, Asia and Europe, focusing on key customer development activities and providing the technical direction to Design Center technical team members
    • Identifying and supporting opportunities for new business
    • Oversee technical teams to ensure the New Product Introduction ("NPI") process works smoothly for new and innovative products.
    • Manage relationship with the manufacturing plants, particularly plants in China where volume manufacture takes place
  • Use of the Technical Reports format to define the development process with clear summaries, recommendations and all supporting data
  • Oversee and evaluate the NPI system to ensure a robust procedure is maintained for handing over new product developments to production which outlines mix formulations, process requirements, performance criteria and final sign off, etc.
  • Manage and monitor the work in progress of the other employees in the USA


Accountability:
  • Is accountable for sales and profits of all technical project developments


Required Competencies:

    • Strong background in Engineering, Chemistry, or Industrial Design.

    • Willingness to travel 30-40% of the time.
    • Must be comfortable hosting and engaging customers at professional events, dinners, and networking functions to strengthen business relationships.
