What you'll do at IP Corporation as a Technical Manager:
  • Manage a team of site engineers and participate in the areas of chemical process improvement, automation, capital expenditure planning and execution.
  • Ensure the highest levels of plant reliability by leading the Plant Engineer and Maintenance teams in effective management of the maintenance organization including outside contracting.
  • Improve business performance of the site through capacity gains, project execution, asset reliability, and waste reduction.
  • Implement new and innovative processing techniques that improve plant performance in the areas of safety, quality, and productivity through the use of established engineering practices.
  • In collaboration with the Plant Engineer, oversee the management of the site Capital Expenditure program including the budgeting process, project selection and execution. Provide tools and practices to achieve 100% on-time, on-budget projects.
  • In collaboration with the Plant Engineer, oversee the management of the Site Maintenance and Reliability management system. Assist in the development of strategies and corresponding initiatives focused on both improvements in the reliability of key utility and processing equipment as well as efficiency of the department including determining and developing technician skill areas and level and appropriate out-sourcing of contracted maintenance and repair.
  • Manage the site Quality function comprised of two teams servicing multiple businesses and technologies. In collaboration with direct reports and Corp R&D and Quality functions, develop and implement strategies to improve site quality performance metrics and customer satisfaction. Provide leadership in managing the site ISO-9001 quality management system.
  • Assume a site leadership role as the Plant Manager's key direct report. Drive site engagement in the support of Interplastic's core values including, and most notably our EHS values by maintaining and enforcing all company safety, environmental and health requirements.
  • Manage assigned departmental budgets and projects.

What we're looking for in a Technical Manager:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years' experience in batch chemical processing preferred.
  • 5 years' experience leading or managing an engineering team
  • Experienced in applying continuous improvement analytical programs such as SPC/SQC, Six Sigma, and Lean.
  • Working knowledge of wet chemistry analytical equipment.
  • Proficient in various software including, MiniTab, AutoCad, and typically used Microsoft programs (word, excel, etc.).
  • 5 years of hands-on capital project management, executing projects ranging from $100,000 to $5,000,000 both in a team as well as an autonomous environment.
