Description:

Flatiron Dragados Canada, Inc., the Canadian construction arm of the ACS Group (one of the world's largest international construction and engineering companies), is seeking a talented and experienced Technical Manager to join our Bowmanville project.

Dragados Canada was established in 2008 and has grown steadily into an industry-leader in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, successfully performing a variety of large-scale transportation, bridge, dam, tunnel, and other major infrastructure projects. Dragados integrated with Flatiron in January 2025 to form one of the largest construction companies in North America, Flatiron Dragados.

Note: The incumbent will be working at the downtown Toronto office for the first 8 months and then at the project office in Oshawa.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the process of obtaining permits, licenses and approvals from appropriate authorities
  • Manage the process of identifying, tracking and monitoring land/properties acquisition
  • Manage relationships with stakeholders and government authorities (MTO, Region of Durham, City of Oshawa, CPKC) during design reviews, permitting and licensing
  • Manage, review and ensure timely receipt of design deliverables from the client's designer
  • Manage, review and ensure timely receipt of temporary design deliverables from sub-consultants and subcontractors to ensure the project implementation in accordance with permanent design.
  • Ensure the designs and technical documents are reviewed for constructability and in coordination with temporary works and contractors means and methods
  • Ensure key design risks are identified and shared with the project management team
  • Provide direction and technical support to operational staff and subcontractors
  • Manage the Design and Technical documents distribution, Request For Information and any other technical processes
  • Ensure the project deliverables are delivered in accordance with the specified design and quality standards
  • Prepare any technical submittals
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related disciplines
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy civil design management /technical role on large construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and work plans
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills
